Ok anyone pass emissions here with their long tubes in San Diego, CA? I know long tubes are not smog legal in CA but, only by visual inspection. There has to be a someone who has passed. If so I would like to hear about it. Thanks

Not gonna happen with l/t's and aftermarket cats on the sniffer. Visual inspection doesnt mean much.

Well according to Kooks and some other information I have researched the high flow cats that come with the long tubes will actually pass the emissions part, just not the visual. I know it makes no sense but CA has really stricty emissions laws. Im gonna give it a try as is and if I fail I really didn't lose much by trying. That is unless they flag my car with the DMV or take my temp tags....

You can only run 2 cats with long tubes instead of the 4-6 required on mustangs.

u should pass the sniffer... i have a bassani x with high flow cats and it passes the sniffer no problem. the only problem u will run into is passing the visual in wich case u may get lucky and they wont say anything or they may be *******s. i live in the bay area and i got my dads friend to do the smog for me and he didnt say anything about all of my mods that dont pass visual. best thing to do if ur in doubt, is to put all motor stuff to stock if u can because they will open hood and if they see stuff their they will be skeptical elsewhere... some places wont even smog ur car even if u have all carb legal stuff with all the carb stickers and stuff... best thing to do is start asking around and i am sure u can find someone who has a smog shop or can get u hooked up. maybe even go to ur local stang shop and ask them what they recomend. on the other hand, if u get pulled over for racing or w.e, they can send u to the ref and then u have to put stock parts on for everything! i got pulled over for tint about 6 months ago and the cop made me start the car open hood etc... but he didnt look under the car and didnt say anything about my boltons ... just scared the **** outta me... called like 3 more cops etc... good luck let me know if u have questions or i can help with anything else...

Just to not attract attention, might want to spray paint them flat black with header paint. Lemme know if it works out for ya, I'd love to put LTs on my ride.

True, but even with the stock headers and an aftermarket X or H pipe you SHOULD fail the visual. Magnaflow made some sorta like cat to aftercat weld-on thing just for CA cars, it looked like a joke to me.
