Look At This Picture, Tell Me What I Should Do

Hey guys, I have a question about this picture. The lines that used to run to the hoses on the smog pump...the lines are broke and gone. I am Not using my smog pump anymore, but these broke off lines are still there. Can I plug them off with something or what? Also, the line running to my EGR Valve is broke off too. When I turn the car off now it makes a nice hissing noise from it. Which ones can I plug off and which one do I need to run another line to the EGR? Thanks

i have the same problem on my 91 gt. not to mention they put them dang things right in the way and if they are'nt already broken if you hit them with your hand....snap!
i'm sure you could probably just plug them off, although some one more knowledgeable could tell you for sure as to if that will cause any drivability problems depending on what all they go to.
as for fixing them, which i'll be doing since i'm running my pump, inside that black rubber plug the rest of the plastic tube is probably broken off in there, it's flared so it will stay in, you may be able to take some needle nose pliers and pull it out, and you can get really small aluminum or copper tubing about that size to slip in there, and use some real small vacuum line to run them to their original spots, which is what i'll be doing........you may wanna fix them just incase you ever need to have it smogged......

If your vac. line to your EGR is broken off, then yeah, you need to fix it. I don't know of any place to buy the hard plastic lines and I called ford and they didn't have them, so I got some rubber hose from autozone...I took a piece of the broken line to show them the size. You can cap the vac lines that went to smog, in fact, you should as that's a vacuum leak, which is bad. You could use some of the hose you buy and some clamps, or if you can find caps that size, that would work too.

Basically:

Take a piece of vac line to autozone, buy hose and repair the EGR line and cap the smog lines.

Thats why I asked about the smog hoses, as that would be a Vacuum leak. Thanks for that. Now I have some hose that should fit, would it matter which one I used to go to the EGR? Will those long black things come off? I pulled on one of em and it pulled the whole thing apart. Also, whats a normal vacuum reading at idle? My gauges shows "16" on the vacuum side at idle, is this normal? Thanks

Advance Auto sells the hard plastic line. VERY similar to stock. It's comes in I think 5 foot sections. The only other option is rubber hose the broken part.

Hmm, this is confusing. Is there a way to get rid of the 4 way thing on there? I have some rubber hose about the same size as that, hopefully it will work. Do you know which section the EGR line came off of? Does it matter, or anything?

well all the 4 way thing is a connection device really, so i suppose you could eliminate it. The thing about rubber hose is that if there's a strong vacuum, it could collapse, which is why the stock lines are hard plastic. You could maybe use that hard plastic line SHO was talking about and use your rubber line to connect it.

ive got the same deal goin on with my car. none of them are hooked up...but i dont have any driveability issues. maybe i should cap them off and see if it runs any better

Hmm, do you run the smog pump? If not what did you do about those hoses running to it?

Get some rubber vac hose to hook up the egr and for the smog pump lines that aren't used, pull the hose out completly and put a screw in it

i dont have a smog pump and none of the lines are hooked up to anything...guess ill just plug them all. do you think its hurting me that the egr isnt hooked up?

If your wondering which one goes to the egr...heres a pic. As you can see 3 out of 4 of my lines are black...all those broke and had to be replaced with the stuff advance auto sells
