I have a few questions..........please help me answer them......

1. Ok after cleaning the head, and timing cover mating surfaces on the block and scraping all you can possibly get off off........What is the best way to prep the block for the gaskets etc........???????????

2. With an open oil pan while you are scraping debris seems to get into the oil pan and misc places in the blockis there a good way to clean it out without pulling the pan.........( i am considering buying some cheaper oil and pouring it into the lifter valley and lettting it drain all the way into a drain pan with both oil plugs open...(will this work?????) If not someone please make some suggestions.

3. After you have the junk clean out of oil pan etc.......and have new oil in it right before installing the dist.......can you take an adapter of sorts and use that on a drill to spin the oil pump creating oiling for the motor to make sure it is lubed.....if so which direction does it need to rotate........

4 Is there an easy way to clean out all the bolt holes to make sure they have no sludge etc built up in them other than a tap and die setup.........

5. Does ANYONE, I MEAN ANYONE, know where to find a injector o-ring and pintle kit for 19lb injectors(rio i lost the number etc. again if you see this please reply)

6. What will be the best way to do a cooling system flush to get rid of excess debris etc. in the water passages without doing it with the car running........i don't want to clog my fluidyne radiator with trash.........

any other tips trick etc.........please let me know............

thanks all you guys............

1. I used brake cleaner and a rag.
2. I stuffed rags into the oilpan gap before I scraped the gasket surfaces. I also bought some cheap oil to use at startup and drained it after I got the engine up to operating temp. I also used a shopvac to pick up all of the debris I could see. Before I installed the heads I coated the cylinder walls with new oil. Also, make sure you fill your new oil filter with oil prior to installing it.
3. I have heard of doing this but don't know the details.
4. A die or thread cleaner is the best way.
5. You might be able to check the Ford parts dept. or try NAPA. I have never heard of a pintle kit.
6. There are a couple of plugs located on the sides of the block. When you remove these the block will fully drain. I don't see what it would hurt if you poured some distilled water down the water journals (use a funnel to avoid getting water in the cyliners) so it can run out. Or, you can just do a flush shortly after you get it running again.

1...i used plenty of razor blades followed by laquer thinner...graphite from the old gaskets is a mofo to get off....chit just keeps on coming... :bang:
those rubber wheels with the fingers work pretty sweet if you have air...
use a shop vac and clean the bores good...it almost impossible to not get some stuff in the...

3...take a 6" 1/4 drive extension with a 1/4 or 5/16 socket?? (tape the socket to the extension just in case, dont wanna lose it) use a drill or ratchet, drill is better, use use reverse and it'll prime it..watch your gage or just go til you get oil thru all the pushrods...assuming you have the valvetrain set-up...

5...Try NAPA...this is a good P/N...Get some extras...the caps my snap at the last moment....use a socket the same size to push em down...

Do a search for Jricker because he post the part number for the o-rings all the time...

Moroso (on summitracing) makes an oil primer that goes right into your distributor hole and is what I used to prime my engine...

I put paper towels in my oil pan "hole" and just lifted them out carefully when removing the paper towels...and then ran some cheap oil in that hole and let it drain out and all looked good...
