Looking at an 05 GT Premium, but first, HI!

I'm new here, obviously, and not used to any customs traditions 'round here. Hopefully I end up with a car tomorrow or the next day (this is all assuming that the car is still for sale and I can get a good deal on her) and I'll be around for a while.

I'm looking at an 05 GT Premium (grey interior leather, shaker1000, whatever else it should have).

I would be third owner. Is there anything I would want to look for in this car that might be a sign that I should stay away? I ask because it has 40k miles and is a first year production vehicle, I lucked out with my 04 F150 as others didn't.

I'll be trading in an 04 F150 (4.6l, lift, leather, XLT, wheels) hoping for a $16k(truck) - $20k(car) trade.

Any thoughts/suggestions/help appreciated y'all!

Welcome.

I noticed the cylinder count stated 4 on the Webpage. I am hoping that is a typo. LOL..

The mileage really isn't that bad. Price is in-line for a 3 years depreciation.

The redesign on this Mustang was actually pretty clean considering it was a first year production run in a brand new facility/assembly line. Check the TSBs listed on the page site and have those in mind when you test drive the car.

Since this is being sold at a Ford Dealership you can request an "Oasis" report by VIN. Other than your standard test drive and CarFax, unless you have a compression check run, you are sort of on your own. There are a good many GT owners that go through these Stangs like sweaters. Nothing to fear except the addiction to the car and the modification process. LOL.

Good Luck and keep us posted.

The price does seem a bit high, I would look for damage/accident repair. Look under the hood and in the door sills and trunk to see if it looks like it has been repainted. Also check the build date, a lot of TSB's out on the earlier models, the transmission for one, I had to have mine repaired and it was built Oct 2004. Also look for aftermarket mods. Good luck, they are great cars, you will enjoy.

The TMV and Dealer Retail on an 05 GT Deluxe in his area of New Mexico with that mileage is right in line with what the dealer is asking. Remember, we all fall upon deals and specials. Try not to place your specific circumstance on other situations.
