looking at buying a dirt bike tomorrow...

I sold both my bikes and want another one. I am going to look at a 2002 Yamaha YZ250F tomorrow sometime. the bike has been taken good care of but the engine has never been touched except maintence like oil changes and stuff like that. Anyone here have a bike like this or tried one out. How did/do you like it. and he is asking $3500 cdn but tonight I asked if he was flexable on his price. he said yes I hardly ever ride the thing anymore only like 2-3 times this year. I am going to try 2800 and maby get it for 2800-3200 bucks.....

I had a 2001 and it was a great bike. I only put a FMF Fatty pipe and jetted the carb. It would all depend on how many hours it has on it and how roughed it has been. I only had about 35-40 hours on mine and it was CLEAN, ran hard but maintained really well and I only got $2000 out of it 3 years ago. It had some skinned up places but plastics were clean, bike ran stronger than stock/new. Just a bit of info. that you might find useful. But as for a dirt bike, I would go no other than Yamaha, just my 2 cents.

Isn't the YZ250F a four stroke? If it is I'd go for a 2-stroke unless your going to go with like a 450cc. The 2-stroke 250s are a blast to ride. I used to have an RM250 that I had alot of fun with. Wouldn't mind getting another one some day.

I don't want another 2 smoker I have had my share of owning and blowing them. I just want a nice bike with good power and good suspension for jumps at the track. I love the low rpm grunt of a 4 stroke and the 450 is a bit much for what I want to do with it. Or I could dump 5K into the "MUSTANG"


and I went and looked at the bike today and it was a bit rough around the edges...he is getting a new chain and a grafix kit along with a set of fork seals and new kickstarter spring...maby it will be nice when he fixes that up.

My guess is he wont let it go any cheaper then $3250.
