I have no knowledge of 4.6's so I don't know any common problems, or which year would be the best.

It must be a 5-spd, GT, and I plan on putting a supercharger on it in the future.

Any suggestions on which year would be the best?

if you are getting a GT, the 99-00's have less compression (more boost friendly) than the 01+. ofcoarse if you get forged internals, it won't matter. at some point, middle of 01 i think, they changed the manual tranny from a T45 to a T3650.

My g/f can't afford a Cobra/Mach 1, AND insurance. If insurance was not a problem, then believe me she would be driving an '03 Cobra. As much as I would like her to have a DOHC motor, it's not going to happen with the insurance being so high. So we are going to settle with a GT. I was looking torwards a '99+ and if the '99-'00 have lower compression (what is it at anyways?) and we plan on boosting it, then after she has the blower in she should have more than enough power, till she gets used to it ;) she will probably make more power than me with just a blower, lol

or get a 96-98 headswap it and you have a little more power than the 99+. You can get them for cheap too. I am in the process of selling mine for 4500 and it already has the swap done plus gears and full exhuast. Surely there are more of them out there like mine.

I got the 96 cause I like the body style but really wish I'd have gotten a 94 or 95 with the 5.0. If you know about the 302 then why not stick with it? If you like the body style of the 94-98 mustangs then get the 98 if you want the 4.6 in that body. Otherwise go with the extra ponies of the newer cars.
Good Luck
Rob

I know a lot about 5.0's, but I thought I could go with the 4.6 this time since I know next to nothing about them, and I want her car to have reliability. So a low mileage car would be better, and maybe even if it's under warranty still....The 4.6's seem to make more power than the 5.0's anyways, but there is not as much aftermarket, and what there is, seems to be exspensive. I really like the 99+ body style, so who knows.... we'll see what comes around :)
