Before you see this please note that this is NOT me selling these wheels. I'm not that sneaky. Mods, if this is stretching the "no selling..." rules, feel free to scrap this thread. Just thought I'd share a discovery of mine.

I know some of you guys obsess over ARE wheels. Well, check out what I just stumbled across over on craigslist while sitting at work today:

Four Black ARE Style Snow Flake Wheels, For a 4 Lug Ford Mustang.

I'm not a huge fan of AREs myself, but for some of you junkies out there this might be something to look into.

I believe they came factory on some Saleens.

All I really know is that some people go crazy for them. I think they look OK on some cars, but personally, yea, I can think of better looking wheels.

Well the early Saleens had Riken rims that looked almost exactly the same except they had a tiny bit more dish to them, and then i believe they went to the AREs at some point. The early ones were 15s and then they switched to 16s around the time Ford did with the Ponys.

Personally i just always loved them. I have a closet obsession with Buick GNX's so that's probably where the love of that look comes from. Like he said, they only look right on some cars, but i think the ones that pull it off REALLY look good. Personally i've got the 16s on my Mustang and a set of 15s going on my Merkur. They're really more for guys who like the old road racing look that the Saleens were trying for.

Some 80s cars are just born to rock those wheels.

I do like the turbo Buicks myself. Had a buddy in college with a T-Type Regal, he'd routinely run 15+ psi on that car with a rigged boost controller and it never did run right, haha. I think it had the turbine wheels though, IIRC.

Yes, and if you notice. The OP and I are both Indiana boys.

Where are you located? I'm on the north side of Indy. What do you think of this 2 degree weather? I'm gettin tired of scraping windows every other morning.
