I am lookin to throw some duals on my lil 6'er, but not the bolt on crap that you attach where the pipes meet after the cats. I was wanting to actually get cut off at the cats and run true duals, and have been told that going directly off each cat without an h or x pipe would probably sound a bit better and less raspy/ricey.
I have checked a couple shops in Beaverton, and they have quoted me at $550 for duals with Flow 40's. I can pick up new Flows for $60 a piece on EBay, so I don't see where the extra markup really is in terms of the cost. I know that I will probably need some tubing mandrel bent unless I can score a GT take off, but even then it shouldn't be THAT expensive.
Ok, what I am getting at is that I was looking to try and find a good quality shop who can do the work for cheaper and not rape my wallet in the process. I had planned on getting the Flow's from EBay to save on some costs, so I would probably just need everything cut, some tubing bent, and everything welded on. Probably going to go with 2.25" for now because I haven't decided if I will follow through with a TT on this car considering the costs to go forged with Stage 3 **** to beef the engine up enough to withhold the stress that would be put on it. Wow, what a long and horribly structured sentence.
But yea, if anyone knows of some good reasonable shops in the Portland area I would like to know. I see people in other parts of the country that only pay up to $350 for their duals and can't fathom why it is so expensive in this area.
