looking for some advice with my project car

i posted this on the 5.0 fourm but i whanted to see what you guys thought about it also.
---i've been a fan of mustangs for quit sometiime at least 3 or 4 years now and have never been able to get one i could affored. but with all this extra cash i'm making here in iraq i'm going to buy one when i get home.
the problem is i don't know if the mustang i whant to build is realistce. i whant a reliable daily driver that can run 12's all day on street tires and still be full wheaght with power windoes and all the goodys. how much would this cost and should i get a fox body or a sn-95. i'm worred if i get a fox body i'll be spending all my cash on fixing broken things insteed of performance mods.
-or would a supercharged 99+ be better. i guss i could get a 03 corba and use my cash as a larg down payment. then have some left over on a loan.
i'm just looking for some advice.? i'll have about 12,000 in the bank with no debt when i get home.
what would you do? what is the best rute for me? thanks for the help guys

Whats up I hope i can help.

If you got a Fox body good luck. You'll have to look really hard to find one. A lot of them are used and abused. Not meaning just being floored hard/racin. I'm talking about been hit, frame is warn out, and a few motors been in and out of that thing. Another problem with the Fox bodys is if you do find one STOCK/CLEAN they want a arm and a leg for it. If you do go and get a Fox body go with a friend that knows about mustangs to go look at it.

SN95 If you get a 94-95 5.0 they are easier to find and very cheap. People hook them up but not as much as i seen as the Fox bodies. Only problem with these are a lot of people just drive them and have a lot of miles on the short block. But owell for 5000 dollars you can have a new motor dropped in and you'll be up like a prom dress.

99 Gts are fast good cars but i wouldn't waste my time on a 2v 4.6. I would get at least a 4v cobra 96-01.

03/04 Cobra You can pick one up for the cheapest i seen is 22Gs. Great car only problem with them is the fact that insurance will hurt you.

Hey  !!!
there is nothing worng with 2V 4.6. Just less potential then 4 Valve, in area of breathing, crankshaft strength, not enough aftermarket support(not as mucvh as 5.0 for sure). But looks far better then pre 99(IMO)
If I were to do it again, this is what I'll do.

Pick up 94 or 95 GT with 5.0. Due to torque of 5.0, and handling of SN95, then get head, intake, cam, header, may be supercharger. You'll have one fast car, and probabry far cheaper then buying decent used 99+

Ok ok sorry but that is just how i feel. If it wasn't for stupid insurance and me being so young i would have got a Cobra. Plus i had a 96 2v GT and man I wish it came as fast as the 99+ but it didn't. Now that i have Cobra motor its so much more fun to drive.

4000rpm to 6800rpm is never ending. I can't imagine driving a 03 cobra. Damn i can't wait till i get my blower put on.

Since you aren't biased towards the later models and an earlier Fox would do...if it were the right one then you're better off getting the car with the least abuse and wear. Examples: I knew where to buy a sparking new looking '63 GT 5.0L convertible (show car-still for sale). Owner wants $12K but its only got about 40K miles on it. OTOH, I bought an '01GT SOHC coupe and had it partially repainted to get rid of the cosmetic problems...only 26K miles and still under warranty (24 months/36K miles). Cost was $14K including paint work. Look carefully and you shall find one that fits your situation.
