I am doing a five lug conversion on my 1990 lx mustang. I bought brakes off an 88 saleen and the rear end off the saleen. Since the rear end is wider I am not sure what offset and backspacing I need in the front and rear. If anyone has any info on this or wheels that would help me solve my problem I would greatly appreciate it.
thanks

I just sold a set of Saleen foxbody wheels for a buddy on Ebay last week. I had them advertised on here also too bad.

The rears were 8" with more of a offset inwards. The fronts were 7" with more of a lip sticking out. If you put them on backwards they rub on the rear. I'm not sure of the offsets.

If it was me I would buy one of the brackets for 94-up calipers on the rear. That way you can use stock length 5 lug rear axels. Then you have more rims to choose from ,you dont have to get a weird offset with the rears.

Ford sells a Cobra R wheel in 17" for the rear that would probably fit. It's for people who have the longer axels in the back.

i believe that Saleen used lincoln mark vii calipers in those years. i have a pair of the 94 and up bracket from a gt if you would like to see if it will work. where are you from? i live in graham and work in tacoma. i have done a 5 lug conversion on my 88 lx with disc brakes in the back and bullit brakes on the front. i might be able to lend a hand.

north race cars bracket will let you use fox length axles with disc brakes and 94 and up calipers. i have sn95 length axles and 97 cobra wheels (17x8) and have no interference problems with 245/40zr17 tires. if you want sn 95 length axles you can use the stock 94 and up brackets.

Yes your right! it's been awhile since I have messed around with the foxbody rear brakes. A 8in rim with a 245 tire will fit fine with SN95 axels.

I forgot to mention that I was thinking to run a 9in rear rim not a 8in. The 17x8 Cobra wheels I thought were in 98?, but anyway If you want to run a 9in rim it will be hard with SN95 axels unless you get the Cobra R rim that has the different offset for the rear. I also wanted to run a 275 tire not a 245.
So I was just thinking about how I wanted a 9in rim and a 275 tire and I didn't want the front rims to have less of a lip than the rear. So if I was going to do it now I would use stock length axels and the North racecar bracket and SN95 calipers. Then have a wide selection of rim choices. Like 18in :D
