Greetings all, Just coming to share that i recently lost my foxbody... I live in California and had my fox parked on the street with expired registration. I live on a dead end street in a cutty neighborhood. We get no threw traffic and have never seen a cop in 3 years. many of my neighbors have been on the block for 20 plus years. Anyway one morning i woke up to my fiance yelling "there towing the mustang" I jumped out of bed and ran outside only to be stopped by a cop saying my car is being taken for being parked on the street. 3 other cars where also towed from my small street as well... I went to the DMV the next morning and called the tow truck company to see how much it would be to get the car out. altogether for registration, a parking ticket, police release fees and tow fees by the next day it would have been $1500 to get my car out and another $200 each day. I sadly am not in that position to pay that money and by the time I get paid the storage fees are just too much. I sadly had to let my Fox go... If you check out my posts over the years you will see how much work i put into it. (engine swap/refresh, 5spd swap, coilovers, rear control arms and much more...) I am sad to see this go and with the prices of fox's rite now will most likely not be getting one anytime soon. S*** happens, at least my rent is paid, there's food in the fridge and my family is taken care of.

Well that sucks. Sounds like they were doing a sweep or something. Have you heard anyone else on nearby streets experiencing the same?

Interesting they gave you a parking ticket as well as towed the car. I would have thought it would have been one or the other, either tow it, or issue a parking citation. Unless the parking citation was unpaid from some previous issuance.

Sucks to loose the car that way. I’m curious, was there any warnings or notifications that the car would be towed if you didn’t register it or move it off the street?

The parking ticket was a late ticket i had from a while ago.

I do see situations like that pretty frequently.

Every situation is different but they do make mistakes. The [one] thing they do regularly is screw up.

Remember... These are morons. That is why they entered into public service in the first place.

They cant clean up the vagrants and feces off the streets but they're worried about your car on a dead end street.

Sounds legit O_o

They did tow a Honda accord but my neighbor's car was a nice WRX, we had the 2 modified cars on the block and they both got towed. It did feel selective, the cold part is that my neighbors see me working on it and a few of them encourage me wrenching on my mustang and they like to see it on the road.

Have your girlfriend call the tow yard to see when it goes to auction, have her call every single day, my friend got his back that way.It did take almost a year.

That's my last hope, but with the price of foxbodies i may be priced out at the auction... i was able to grab my ecu hopefully that deters people from bidding. Hearing your story gives me hope. im pretty sure its going to auction after 30 days.

Not if I have anything to do with it.:stir:

Kidding, just tryin to lighten the mood in here. I hope you can get It back man. Sucks when the city you live in and pay taxes in does stuff like that to ya. Especially without warning. That parking ticket may have pushed them towards the dickish decision though.

haha its all good. I would hope that someone gets it who will take care of the car... if anybody contacts me to get any paper work i would happily help them out and tell them whatever they need to know about the work done.

A lot of times, the initial complaint comes from a neighbor who just got tired of seeing cars parked on the street long term. But I always thought they would give some sort of warning. I had neighbors that parked non-operational cars on the street and eventually called the police. They came and marked the cars’ positions on the street, then came back a day or so later and towed the ones that hadn’t been moved. The towing company will auction the car to recoup their costs, and l think you could buy it back at auction.

Man that really sucks,im sorry to hear that,my old Mustang rattles, it has some small rust spots, its been wrecked (not from me but to me,lol) and its no trailer queen but if i lost it i would be super sad, been driving it for 30 years and with everything thats wrong with it people still compliment me on it just about every week, they are neat cars.

If i had the money i would give it to you as a gift to get your car back,in my neighborhood we have cars that have been sitting so long there is a Ecosystem growing under them, they are just part of the landscape.

On another note i had to look up "Cutty neighborhood" wasn't familiar with that expression, learn something new everyday.

Ya cutty is a bay area term, (like in the cuts) basically its a tucked away street, you wouldn't know was there unless you live there. it hurts to lose the fox but maybe some young kid will get it and have a solid start to a good build. who knows maybe i find an affordable roller when i have better finances.
