***YOU CAN SKIP THIS STORY IF YOUD LIKE AND READ THE BOTTOM FOR THE REAL THREAD, THIS IS JUST MY GIANT EXHAUST DILEMMA STORY***

im sooo getting tired of changing exhausts. long story: i bought the saleen last yr [supposed to come with saleen borla catback similar to xr1 style catback] but someone changed to fms shorty headers, fms o/r hpipe, and welded flowmaster 2chambers into the 850 borla c/b and they did a horrible job. so...first thing was changing the rusted fms hpipe to a bbk o/r x and a borla c/b. the borla was SO quiet it was like a stock mustang; later found out saleen had a special saleen-borla c/b. so i find a 98 saleen borla system on ebay for cheaper because it was missing tailpipes...i still had tailpipes so im thinkin great this is perfect. didnt know the 98s and earlier had a xr1 catback custom made and the tailpipes werent gonna line up from a 99 so it didnt fit [still have it tho cause i got ripped by the guy on ebay and he had a friend bid it up so i paid like twice what i wanted to]. so i find a 99 saleen-borla system on eBay...rushed into getting it so fast thinking it was discontinued and the only one left when it showed up i saw it was a damaged one and i hadnt read the disclaimer. so i call borla, give them the story and they tell me they still have a few and they send one out. i put it on, still quiet. the bbk xpipe sounded like ass with it. my brother picked up a 96 cobra with a dr gas xpipe and a borla xr1 catback <--sounds absolutely amazing, which is now exactly what i want my car to sound like. while my motor was out i got bbk longtubes and a short dr gas. now, my car sounds similar however its still quieter by far. so, do i try to weld the xr1s in and ruin my saleen-borla that was like 850 bucks or get a stinger system cause i know then for sure itll be loud?
/rant

***CLIFF NOTES: running bbk longtubes, short dr gas off-road xpipe, and a saleen borla catback...not loud enough!***

how do the loudmouth, stinger, and magnapack compare to each other? i cant put cats back on so i dont want it too loud. ive heard two 99s, both running full slp exhaust one had the cats in the other didnt...one with cats in sounded good, one w/o cats sounded badddd. are the stinger and magnapack just like this going to give the same sound, because i dont want to put cats in i spent too much $$ to get rid of them. tia.

I've heard a Stinger on a Terminator, was brilliant.

I have heard vids and sound clips and on the Terminator, it did sound nice. But on someones GT, there was so much snap-crakle and popping going on it sounded like CRAP. I wouldn't put Borla on my car. WAY to expensive, and sounded bad IMO :nonono:

If you pay $550ish for a cat-back and then install it and dont like it, your SCREWED

i liked loudmouth on a GT but with cats the one w/o sounded like a big rig. just curious how the design compares so i know how there will be a difference. ive heard a GT with hooker longtubes, vrs o/r x and magnapacks that was loud and sounded good but it was so long ago i cant remember exactly how it sounds

I have the stock headers, SLP catted X and the Borla stingers. The combo is LOUD, especially around 2000-2500 rpm cruising. It does get raspy under WOT, which I do not like. I had the stingers in with the stock H and that did a sound good (no raspyness)but it was not loud enough. I am going to put in headers next winter when I pull the engine for forging/stroking.

I would call borla and ask them what mufferls are in the 96 cobra cat back and how it compares to the muffler in the stinger catback and go from there.

I personally prefer the xr-1's to the magnapacks and the loudmouth.

I mean you sound like you know what you like just call borla and make it happen. weld them in or if the stinger is the same buy it.

Loudmouth owns magnaflow in terms of tone, and attack, and piercing sound

:stupid:

Magnapacks definitely sound more refined than Loudmouths...acceleration sounds ALOT nicer with the packs. Definitely a lot crisper/cleaner.
