Low end loss w/ typhoon?

Im pretty much stock (full exhaust) so I know Im going to loose some low end, but how much? And will what I gain up top make up for it?
Im going nuts because every car beats me by less then 3/10 of a sec in the 1/8 so Im just looking for a little bit more. I do have some traction issues, but only at the track so I cant justify slicks or drag radials. Im going to be getting a motor that comes with everything but intake and fuel delivery so I don’t want to do anything else to this motor while I wait for my father in-law to get his butt in gear and get his motor (discount for 2)
Is it worth getting the typhoon and tb or should I just put my money into suspension?

Slicks or DR's will give you those 3 tenths and possibly a few more!

I know slicks or dr's will help, but I cant justify it. On the street I cant launch at high rpm's but I can feather it out and floor it, the track I run at sucks so bad that I cant floor it till at least after the 60ft. That track is moving in a month and hopefully the new one will be a lot better. Also my bf is selling his car which has mt drag radials on it, I get them when he sells it. If I do suspension at least thats something that lasts unlike slicks
I dont wanna do a 100 shot, I have 243k on my motor now and im prob gonna blow it up if i spray it, and im screwed if I dont have my new motor yet and time to put it in.

where in S.C are you, i go to the citadel. ohh, and i think the typhoon might be a little over kill for you right now, if you are putting the new motor into the car your driving now i would do some suspension and that way youll be ready for the new motor anyways. i just got upper and lower control arms and subframes for my 89 for $165. from blueovalperformance.com ...granted i know they are no MM or anything like that, but they were def. an improvement over stock, i was very happy with the product and the service from blueovalperformance.

Shoulda kept the 460! :D
They dont prep the track?

gears?
bump timing?
electric fan?
under drive pulleys?
explorer intake?
CAI?
control arms?
drag springs?
racing clutch? or stall convertor w/shift kit?
just some ideas?

putting a explorer intake or a typhoon intake will help out no matter what!

thanks for the idea's. Ive thought of all of it already...
Gears are no good, I drive 70 miles a day on the interstate, im at 2200 as it is (car came w/ 3.08's) I do have a set of 3.55's in the garage I might throw in just to see how bad it is. Timing is bumped. could do an electric fan but I dont think itll be enough to be worth it. dont like underdrive pullies (except for the crank pully) I dont have a smog pump and Im running a shorter belt. Explorer intake is an idea. I have a king cobra cant put it to use though because I cant get enough traction at the track. I already pulled my air silencer off and put in a K&N a cia isnt gonna be much better.

Control arms and springs would be a big help and Im gonna need to do them anyway. Im leaning towards an intake though because thats something Ill NEED with the new motor anyway. I just dont want to suffer too much low end, esp running the 1/8 I dont have much time to make it up.
Can anyone tell me how much ill loose in the low end or where it will start to pick up? Ive searched the net but I cant find dyno graphs for a stockish motor with the typhoon or edelbrock.

if u buy a intake now, with your next combo it could choke you then u spend more money for an even better intake.
put the gears in and do susp mods your better off that way. put an electric fan w/ 3g altrnator to make it work and you will be a lot faster trust us?
a buddy of mine once told me that the right gear is worth 100 horse
but do what u want.
i put a explorer intake on my stock motor with maf conv. 3.73 gears and exhaust and i rev too quick..now i ned more motor for that intake to work better.

send your stock intake to t-moss to have it ported might be cheaper

You asked a question, but your shooting down all the suggestions. If you want an intake and you're not going to listen to anyone, just do it.

Yes I did ask a question, which no one has answered.
If you read my original post my question wasn’t what can I do to get 3/10, is was how much low end am I going to loose and is the gain up top worth it.
I appreciate peoples input so I acknowledge it.

the fact of the matter is, your most likely not gonna lose enough down low, or gain enough up top to make much of a difference with your car being stock. my best guess is the loss will outweigh the gain, especially since the only tracks we have around here are 1/8 mile....you wont have enough time to see much of a benefit of the car pulling harder "up top" especially with you having stock gears, your prolly what, midways through 3rd at the traps on an 1/8 mile track? 99% of races are won within the first 60ft (assuming its a clean run for both cars and its not a blow out of a match-up to begin with) i have beat cars that were up to .5-.7 faster than me just because i can cut a good light and a better 60 than they could.

You said and I quote "Is it worth getting the typhoon and tb or should I just put my money into suspension?"

There are a number of people in this thread that suggested suspension instead of an intake. You shot them all down. so if you're going to do what you want anyway, why ask for opinions?

Upgrade your suspension, install at least 3.73 gears, get a spare set of wheels with sticky tires on them and you'll probably be at least a second faster. You wont gain much with the intake, so buy it when you need it.

stay far away from that intake, fyi the typhoon is patterned off of an edelbrock rpm manifold, and that's WAY too much intake for you, it's gonna absoulutely kill you, it would be too much even for my gt40p heads.

as well, if you're going 2200 rpms on the freeway with 3:08's, you're driving too god damn fast, slow down. a 3.73 rearend will put you right at 2k rpms at 65 miles per hour, so I'd suggest getting some gears, and just driving the speed limit.

as well, the control arms will do wonders for you too. Don't dismiss underdrive pullies, since you're mostly freeway miles anyhow, they shouldn't effect you negatively, the u/d pullies along with the electric fan will help immensly. Also, grab a p/s pulley off an early v6 mustang from the early 80's, it's much bigger and will slow you're rpms down.

don't bother with an intake or tb until you do the heads too.

don't be so quick to dismiss all the bolt ons, my buddy was doing low 13's with a bone stock longblock, full bolt ons, tire on a heavy as 89 5.0 vert with 240k original miles.
