Lowering Springs Dangerous???

Well i had my mom ask a mechanic that goes to our church/works at a local dealership and he said he could do the install on my suspension stuff. But he told her that he advises me to not put lowering springs on because they are dangerous and i would come out on the losing end of an accident? Any truth to this or what?? Id be on the losing end of an accident most likely anyways unless i crashed into a civic or something......please tell me hes retarded. As of right now my parents wont let me get the stuff installed so i need to find proof that hes wrong (please)

Tell your parents that it will lower your center of gravity and reduce the chances of a roll over. We all know that the Mustang is prone to rollover due to the factory 4x4 lift.

First of all, wack that guy up side the head. Tell your parents that lowering springs gets rid of brake dive so that the weight is more evenly distributed during hard braking situations keeping you are more in control of your car. Also lowers center of gravity of the vehicle so in turns the car doesn't lean as much keeping better tire patch on the ground. More tire grip, better control and handling.

If you have any kind of mileage on your car, a matching set of (adjustable if you can afford) shocks/struts would also aid in the handling of your car.

1st off all it sounds like the guy is trying to get out of it and 2nd of all what is on a race car???? yes lwering spings and why ?????to help keep control of the car.....why not change it yourself

For one i dont have time, i need my car almost daily to get my to and from work/school/etc. Second, i couldnt really do it in a weekend because my weekends are packed now, it sucks working on a car when its 40 degrees, and i KNOW id run into problems that would require more parts and such as well as our lack of tools necessary to do the job. It would end up with me screwing something up and not being able to take the car anywhere because of the suspension being out. Overall it'd just be easier and safer (for me) to have someone do it all at once...then i can blame them if something goes wrong too.

Parents probably wouldnt look to fondly on that for the next 4 years still.

Also i find it weird that there are so many different opinions on the difficulty and length of this project. Some say its easy and will take 4-5 hours, others say its a PITA and 8+ hours and should be done by professionals. Thats why im figuring since i have a way of making even the easiest installs go bad and my lack of time im just going to have someone who knows what they're doing do it. Once i get another POS car for a DD/mustangsbeingworkedonD then ill do more of the lengthy/difficult jobs myself.

The first time i ever installed lower springs, it was a trial and error install. It took me 2 days to do it...4 hours each day.

Now i have about 4-5 lowering spring installs under my belt.

The latest install took me 3 hours to do.

Just make sure you use QUALITY lowering springs and make sure you go get an alignment when you are done.

4 hours, I would say you need a hand if you've never done them before and if you want it done a little quicker. Tell your church buddy and parents, its either springs or a supercharger, take your pick.

it could be dangerous to your bumper lip if you go too low, but other then that, provided that its installed correctly, no. its perfectly safe

I see what happened here your Mom asked a mechanic at church and him being an intellegent man he assumed the next question was going to be can you help my son install these springs? Then he rembered reading in the Ford handbook that modifing a car can cause damage to parts voiding the warranty and may contribute to an accident.

No seriously though 1. Your age 2. Your car seams faster and I can take this corner now! 3. You make a dumb decision and hurt or kill yourself or someone else. There is probally more to your parents decision than what the mechanic said.
