How can you dis them they are 500 horse capable bolt on motors (THAT STILL HAVE PUSHRODS).....WTF!!!!!!! Man I miss pushrods damn mod motors. I wonder if Ford ever kicks themselves for doing that I mean look what a little modern technology can do to an old concept. These motors flat out rail man!

I wish Ford would have reengineered the 302 so it could run like the LS1, but we got the mod motors instead.

The LS1 was engineered in the 90's, the 4.6 was engineered in the late 80's, as it made its debut in 1991. So the 4.6 is essentially 80's tech, when you get down to it 80's tech cant compete in the same way with 90's tech.

When the LS1 came out the mod motors were already established, and it wouldn’t make any sense for Ford to make a new motor.

Ford had to jump the gun.

Don’t get me wrong the mod motors are great especially when you S/C them, but they aren’t bolt on and go fast a hell motors.

58 rwhp per liter for the 4.6L SOHC.

52 rwhp per liter for the 5.7L LS1.

The pushrod ls1 technology has been around for decades upon decades. It is not 90's tech.

The overhead camshaft is more efficient, aka better technology.

Ford did right. I believe the mistake many make is that they think Ford and GM are making the cars just for horsepower.

There's nothing magical about the LS1's. Any 350 cubic engine with similar breathing heads will make similar power.

For the amount of money you're gonna have to invest to get it up and running, you could make similar power with a Ford powerplant. And then the car will actually retain some resale value. A Chevy powered Ford will be hated by both the Ford and GM camps.

the ohc engines that ford came out with are nice, and efficient engines. it would be even better if ford made that engine with more cubic inches.

hmm i know i wouldnt do it not a very big fan of cross-breeding a car. would be fast but why not just go with a 351?
