lt headers and a lowered car

lt headers are next on my list of mods probably will be my christmas present....but anyway my friend mentioned something about my car being lowered and clearance issues w/the longtubes my car is pretty low because of the eibach sportlines is this something i should worry about?

I have clearance issues over certain speedbumps and my girlfriend's gravel driveway (it's on a hill, so there are divets) with my stock manifolds on. My long tubes, Xpipe, TB, and pullies just arrived...they're being installed a week from Tuesday.

I can let you know next Wed how it goes, lol.

(Maybe I should've asked this question a few weeks ago.)

You shouldn't have any clearance or scraping problems
with BBK L/T headers.Get ceramic headers for sure though.

My mid-pipe scrapes but not the headers and that's only on big speed bumps that I didn't slow down enough for. Your fine and you'll notice an improvement. One of the best bolt-on's.

i was wondering the same thing. my driveway has a dip at the end, and my prochamber scrapes occasionally.

I have BBK LT's w/ h-pipe and ford c-springs and I've scraped the LT's and h-pipe way too many times. Speed bumps and creases in the road are huge problems for me

yea i was planning on bbk ceramic lt's still not sure on what kind of midpipe im open to suggestions but i was under the car friday and my mid pipe has no scrape marks on it so it shouldnt be too bad

I have SLP LT's and an o/r x and the collector is def the first to scrape, it drops a bit lower than the x.

I have SLP LT's and an o/r x and the collectors are def the 1st to scrape seeing they dip a bit lower than the x. I'd be careful because i dont have a drop and i've already scraped a few times.

I have mac LT's and my car is lower then most and I don't have a problem. I have coilovers in the front and they are set to about 1/4 in lower then the sportlines.

i have yet to scrape my header or collecter. I scrape my tips, but thats about it.
I think probrem with LT scraping is that people drive it like they did befor header install, and go over big speed bump or something.

As long as your careful(and you should be if your car is lowered), then you'll have no issue

I'm extremely careful with my car. But on the older (in my state, yellow) speed bumps that aren't very wide...I can't clear them with a passenger, and barely clear them myself. As for my girlfriend's downhill gravel driveway, I am rolling, on the brake, maybe 2-3 mph and utilize the terrain to my greatest advantage...and still scrape occasionally. The divets aren't very deep either. When I'm shorthanded at work I drive 150,000 pound fuel tankers (at an airport), so I know what 2-3 mph and "careful" are. Camping was a nightmare too.

I'm not saying I regret my decision...and on pavement you should be good 99% of the time...but beware of dirt/gravel roads.

Oh yeah - and my LTs don't get installed until next week, and I'm already having these problems.

Oh, and when I took a ferry across Lake Champlain, I scraped everytime except the last one. Even going diagonally, I had to kick everyone out of my car and have them carry stuff from my trunk. I cleared it then by less than an inch.

I used to have SLP LTs. I never really noticed a problem scraping much. I've got
the FRPP springs.
Although I did end up losing my LTs, One muffler, and my chin spoiler to a piece
of rolled carpet that fell out out of the back of a truck on I-70.
I couldnt afford to replace my LTs so I got a set of FRPP shorties for cheap.
So you are more susceptible to road debris.

BBK here and no problems as long as you are careful and pay attention. Do angle approaches and depatures for speedbumps and steep incline/decline and you won't have to worry about scraping the LT's. The midpipe is another matter, I had the prochamber, scraped anything and everything, now have the Magnaflow x-pipe and have't scraped anything since.

If you're really worried about clearance, you could always go with a set of mid-length headers like Bassani or Kooks. All the power of a long tube, but the ground clearance of a short tube. Keep in mind though, they're every bit as expensive, if not more than most LT headers on the market, but if it makes you feel any better, when you buy Kooks and Bassani, you know you're going to be getting the best quality money can buy.
