LX Tailights on a GT

Im rather fond of the 83-86 style lights. Had em on my 89 GT(pictured) and also on my 90LX and I never noticed them sitting "recessed". Maybe they do but I cant say that it looks out of place if they do.

I have the 86GT's pin stripped on my 1990 LX hatch and yes, they are slightly recessed. But only someone who knows would notice this. It's really suttle.

I had the Gt ones and couldnt even look at them. When I put the lx ones in it was like a whole new car!
And yes you are so right 1EVIL88VERT, I had the rack and I cant wait to get a new trunk and my 93 cobra wing on it!

GT tails are one of those things that should've happened. LX tails are a must for GTs imo. Here's a few more SHOULDA NEVER HAPPENED things...

You do know that the cobra lenses when installed sit recessed. So the hatch sticks out like 1 inch over the taillight. And you can also see the 1 inch of bumper no longer covered that was covered by the lx lenses. The cobra lenses and 85-86 lenses are flat compared to the bubbly shape of the lx ones hence why the difference in how recessed they sit. I used to have the 86 lenses but didnt like that you could see where the bumper was faded from teh sun and not faded from where the new lenses didnt cover so i took them off. Just warning you so u know what to expect. If u look at the 93 cobras and cobra R's u can see that the lights sit recessed a bit also.

Heres and OOOOOOOLD pic of how it used to look like.

By looking at my taillight housings, I know my GT Lenses are not very thick, so I cant imagine that the 93 Cobra Lenses are going to recess it too much.

I started with the Cheese Graders like everyone else with a GT,

I then went with to the LX tail lights,

and then again I thought that the Cobra’s would look good,

but then I was told that the LX looks the best on a stock GT rear, so I went back to the LX tail, and I'm glad I did.

My GT is Titanium Frost with the lower Titanium ground effects, I think the color of the car has alot to do with what taillights look good on your car, I havent done it yet, but I think the Cobras will look awesome on my car!

I think the LX tails look worse than the cheese graters.


I want a nice set of 86 or cobra tails....
