MAACO is EVIL!!!

my brother's 84 vette got painted there. it's bubbling and the fiberglass is stripped. The paint was gross tooo i understnad it is a thick sparkle broze color but it was cakey!

Maaco was my savior


I had my 65' done at Maaco in Lubbock TX and they did great!!!!! It took time as most do when it's basically starting from the metal with a lot of body work, and they wanted to make sure it came out right. They outsourced the uphoulstry and glass (but it came out perfect). I haven't finished setting up my garage on here but I can't wait to post pics of 65' and the great job they did! I see your in Lubbock that's the same one I went to! They did a better job restoring my 65' then the dealership did fixing the front bumper on my Jeep~that took several months before the dealership finally replaced it! I should have gone to Maaco for that, but live in California now and insurance made me go there instead. I also sent a friend there to have a custom Harley Davidson short bus painted and he loves it. They matched the color perfectly and we both get compliments every where we go. The paint is going on 3 years and it still looks great~no chipping, pealing or fading. And you do get what you pay for~if you don't put the money in you don't get the best quality! Mojo what service did you get and what prep did you do or have them do? I put a lot of study in to who I would use so I was just wondering?! Every one else wanted a lot more money and time to finish my 65'.

for me, i would rather go to earl sheib before i go to maaco. every paint job i have seen come from maaco's shop was either full of runs, dirt, or both. like any shop though, there are those that do good work, but not enough for me to ever use them. if i were you i would get my car and take it to one day.

Since you didn't mention it, I'm wondering what they charge. I also am guessing you chose them for their low price rather than award-winning quality. You get what you pay for, period. You don't go to a brothel looking for Miss America and you don't go to a quickie paint shop expecting to see Chip Foose painting the cars. As a side note, lots of painters and paint shops are notoriuosly flaky when it comes to time, that's why I painted mine myself...

I took my 1970 911 to the Maaco in town here. I would have just painted it myself but after I did the jams my pregnant wife complain about fumes getting in the house. I had a talk with there painter and told him personally what I wanted. They had it done in 3 days. Other than the rear quarter that had a run I had to take out it came out great and they only charge me $350.
