Mac LT headers and Prochamber??

just wondering a few things..

1. I didnt know there was studs.. so how would i go about removing the studs that are in there?

2. After installing the headers, with the engine jacked a bit and boards and jacks and stands flyin all over the place, what would i have to reconnect in order to safely run the car and let it warm up?

You should be fine with the engine jacked up, and chasis supported with jack stands.

If you're using stage 8 locking nuts, you won't need to do the other step I mentioned. Just throw those babys on, and you'll be good to go.

Some may come out when you take off the nut. To remove the others, try either vice grips, or the double nut method. Put on 2 nuts, and remove the nut closer to your engine.

hmm.. i read that fnsweet article.. this install looks pretty serious to me. I dont think theres any way i could do it w/o breaking something.

other than that, would i need 02 extensions for mac lt's?

also, how many of you guys used the factory studs n nuts rather than thread in new bolts?

Little piece of advise. Now everyone will have there own but take it from experience. When installing the long tubes reuse the stock gaskets! The mac ones are paper and don't last! I had to replace mine with stock. Also, use the stock studs and nuts. The bolts will rattle out and start exhaust leaks provided with the headers. Yes, had to replace the bolts I put in with stock studs. As far as the o2 harness, stock was long enough on mine. All in all, the mod is definetly worth it. Fit was great! Car sounds bad a** and the torque and horsepower add was incredible. A must do mod.

I had a prochamber before I went with bassani, and sound was fantastic. imo, prochamber is macs best product.

don't let the write-up scare you, its really not hard. its tedius more than anything. took me 15 hours, and that included changing the struts. the only previous work I done before that was changing my midpipe, which took me 4 glorious hours, so that pretty much tells you the extent of my mechanical abilities.

and yes, reuse the stock gasket if possible. if they're gone, spend the coin and buy oem replacements. I got charged $33 per, with 2 per side :o.

I did mine over the thanksgiving break last year, and ****ed up 1 gasket. I used the bassani ones which are supposed to be good, but I messed up the gasket part, and developed a leak. took me 5 hours to change the gasket without dropping the kmember again, not fun at all.

I hope this isn't too far off topic, but I am getting ready to do a header install myself and was wondering if I will need an alignment after the install. I plan on dropping the k-member and was wondering if by taking the bottom bracket off the strut lose would I be messing up my alignment?

you should be fine as long as you dont adjust tie rod ends, caster camber, etc.

How much of a gain do LT's actually give you? I have been told they are not worth it on the 4.6 mod. Unless you have nothing else to do.

Long tubes only gain 10-15 hp but give you alot of low end torque. With mods the hp obviously goes up. I will post my dyno sheet with long tubes. The sound alone is worth the mod in my opinion.

what do you guys this about stanless steel for a midpipe, vs a regular catted bbk shorty h? I need cats.. so thats one thing for certain when it comes to short midpipes. any "good deal" sugesstioins
