Im thinking of getting this as in the "tech articles" section, its claimed to make 17hp.

2 questions:

1. is the 17hp for real?

2. since im planning to keep my exhaust system stock, is it a waste of time to improve my air-intake system?

any thoughts on this product for those who have it...

Don't believe the claims of the manufacturer.....ever! :nono:
Contrary to what Get-It says, you will see some increase but not anywhere near what the mfgr claims, and without the exhaust opened up it will be even less. If you do install a CAI make it one that goes into the fenderwell. Sucking in the hot (200*) under-hood air is not what the Ford engineers thought was the right thing to do. That's why they put that snorkle into the fenderwell on the stock set-up to begin with. Also, KB from their testing, says you lose 1hp for every 10* increase in intake air temp.

That's why I say relatively useless, as it's my opinion. :)

ya ! get that sharp 90 degree turn there so when the air goes through the MAF with all the turbulents it reads lean ! :nonono:

get a strate one... :nice:

Leave the screen in and that will straighten out the air flow. I just don't like that superheated air getting sucked into the engine. :flag:

Btw , when tested with a stright K&N on the MAF, no difference + or - from pulling the air in the Fender. I had more problems when the air came from the fender than when I used the straight one.

Get a tunable induction system for less money and actually gain a little power. I had the straight shot and it made the car really lean. So lean to the point that it detonated even at half throttle. The bends in front of the maf don't hurt the car as much as people say if the system is made right.

Think about it, with the stock air box the air has to turn to go in the snorkel and then turn again after it goes through the filter.

If you want a CAI , get one with the MAF in the Fender . I went through several before I ended up with a K&N on the end of the MAF, under the hood. Maybe a difference with headlight out at track, could be difference in the driver. The others I know, did not benefit from fender air. With the MAC CAI pulling from the Fender, my car was erratic from time to time.
My times didn't change with the straight filter but were more consistant and the car acted better from day to day.
you can't compare the factory turn to the aftermarket units, apples and oranges. The screen helps if you do have CAI with the bend.
The hot air does not hurt you as bad as you believe, unless SC.
Use the money to do exaust or purchase a plenum and/or tb. :nice:
