Mach 1 spoiler install question

Im going to install my spoiler tomorrow, and had a question since I do not have instructions. I understand that the spoiler will NOT be flush with the front bumper if you make it flush with the fenderwell. On the flip side, it will not touch the fenderwell if its flush with the front lip. Question is: how is it mounted on the actual Mach 1 car? Any pictures of these 2 mounting options? Thanks

I have mine flush with the front and it's about 1/4" short on the pass side fender, while on the driver's side, it's flush with the fender...go figure. Hardly noticable...I worried about it at first, but I just don't care anymore.
Use masking tape to hold it in place - where you want it. Then drill out (I think it's1/4") holes and use those push pins to secure it. Then remove tape - done...

Get yourself some of those utility clips at the local Home Depot.
They look like jumper cable clamps but don't have jagged jaws.
It helps to have another person, but start at one end and line it up with the end of the bumper. Work your way around the front to the other side. Now look to see if you have an even gap (or no gap) at the ends and if so center it.
Use the clamps/clips to hold it in place and drill some holes.
My advice is to go slightly smaller than the suggested hole for the push pins. You want them to be tight going in and you can always make them bigger if you need to.

That's about it.

If you do it like above, it will ride about 1/8th inch behind the edge of the bumper in front but even with the bumper when it goes around the curve toward the fender.
Some people move it forward so it rides even with the front, but then you have two spaces at the ends near the fender.

FWIW I eventually replaced the push pins with stainless steel bolts, washers and nuts because all it takes is one parking lot with those concrete blocks to cause problems

I've hit those contrate parking stops (among other things) and have scrapped it on my driveway a few times...and on occasion, I have to push those push pins all the way in as these collisions cause em to back out of come a little loose. It's really not an issue or a problem. And from my perspective, I'd rather have this type of 'flexible' mount than to use screws or bolts...you have a pretty decent chance of ripping either the spoiler or the bumper with any sort of impact.
There's my 2 cents...I've heard people doing it both ways, but there's the logic behind my method.

The fenders more or less, its not really that noticeable.

I just went out and checked, its perfectly flush with the fenders, maybe 1/4" from flush at the front.

Yea, I'm pretty careful now. I just got tired of pushing the pins in all the time because they seem to work loose on their own.
IOW without scraping anything.
FWIW I left the push pins on the sides of the spoiler and only used the bolts in the front.
The spoiler flexes so much if I hit anything big enough to rip the works off I deserve what I get

Mine looks just like larrenduece's car FWIW.

Well, i was short a few pins, but its installed now. Its flush with the fenderwell, and i went from side to side, pulling and tugging it as i drilled the holes. If you work at it hard enough, you can get the spoiler to fit flush with the front bumper. If you dont pull on it and just casually drill holes, it will fall short of the edge. Just need to put some effort into it, and it will fit flush all around

Glad to see it worked out for ya!
The difference with the spoiler on is amazing. The stang looks so
much better IMHO.
One of the best appearance mods you can make in my opinion.

I agree, usually when i look at the front bumper, you see that molding sticking down on both sides in front of the tires. I think im going to go with those push pins that look like bolts/washers. I used the body pins that have the fins and i dont think they hold the spoiler close enough to the bumper. Next weekends project!

I also did all the drilling with the car on Rhino ramps. I was too lazy to jack the car up on jackstands. The car came off the ramps fine, but i dont know how many more times those ramps can be used. I think im going to have to modify those Rhinos somehow

just had mine installed last week as well, and with you having the same color car as mine, going from this:

to this:

makes a world of difference. mine didn't sit flush with both sides, but i didn't mind, throwing on the grill delete adds a lot to it as well. i also had the benefit of my friends shop with a lift.
edit: you can see in that pic where it doesn't align with the edge.
