I've just recently had the woofer and tweeter on the right side of my car blow out (I don't know how it happened) but, long story short- I've decided to replace the stereo system. I've already had the head unit replaced (was done a while back).

Do I have to replace all the speaker wiring and such? I was fairly certain I could hook up a new amp and retain the stock speaker wiring without much of a problem but, I'm hearing there will be problems if I don't get the wiring swapped out with something better. Can the stock wiring not handle anything more powerful or something?

What is wrong here? I've replaced all the woofers and tweeters (x2 Infinity 6820cs) - all that's left is the amp(s) to be replaced and the cross overs hooked in.

...I can take it. I think.

Just rewire it. The stock wiring is a pretty small gauge. It won't handle a moderate system for long.

Replace all the junk wiring. It will not sound good and likely cuase issues with what ever amps your using to push with.

I would agree on replacing the stock wiring. There are a couple of amplifiers built into the system and you definately don't want to use those. It is probably easier to rewire than wire around those amplifiers.

Personally i saw the 3 Amps in my 95GT and said "Screw this" Sell the amps on E-Bay like i did and wire it from the ground up!!! Do it now or youll be diagnosing and tracing wires till the cows come home. (whatever that means)

Wow, thank you for those. That looks pretty complicated, though. I guess I got my work cut out for me then haha.

Just wire around it. The factory wiring is sub par for factory power... go adding more rms and you'll over heat and cause issues if not burn the car down.

Much much easier and way better sound quality to just run your own wires.
