I am getting reading in about two week to do a complete exhuast in stall...headers, midpipe and new cat back...

I am going with the Magnaflow Cat back and after looking at a lot of mustangs with the 3.5" tips...I noticed the distance the tips stick out of the car is all over the place. Some stick way out..some dont stick out at all...

I am worried that when I get my cat back and install it myself that the tips are going to be sticking way out and I won't be able to adjust them. I want the tips to stick out just past the magnaflow insignia on the tips (barely sticking out at all) What I don't want is for them to stick out 3 or 4 inches past the bumper

do any of you have any expierence installing the cat back yourself.. and can you adjust the tips yourself with out having an exhuast shop doing it

I think the bigger problem, so I've read, with the Magnaflow tips is that the adjustment doesn't "stick" unless you basically put a tack-weld in once it's where you want it.

Or maybe red loctite ... :D

Oh, and my tips are adjusted exactly as you describe how you want yours -- I can't imagine you'll have a problem.

I've got mine just about the way you described. However, I had to trim the clamp on the tailpipes. They wouldn't clamp tight enough, so I removed about 3/16" from the inside of the clamp, and no problems so far... I also added stainless lock washers to the bolts instead of loctite...
