John, I think when I finally get around to my '65 coupe, I'm going to have to emulate your car. Kind of a cross between your car and DM's Terlingua car. Do you have any pics of it sitting still that are from about the same angle? I'd like to compare it to the cover of the M&F from July.

Well, I live in Oklahoma, and Hallet is about the only place close I could take it regularly. Although hitting the oval down in Fort Worth could be fun. I saw the Terlingua car first hand at the Tulsa Shelby meet and I agree it sits too high. I plan on a stroker 302 based motor or maybe a 351W based stroker, either with aluminum heads to take weight off the front end. I'd like to go with some 15" Minilite knockoffs for the street. I've loved the '67 Shelby hood on the early cars since I saw one about 15 years ago at the Ark City drag strip on a 'vert. My favorite car is the '67 body style, but the early car makes a better track car in my opinion. Hopefully when I'm done, I'll have a '63 Fairlane Nostalgia Super Stock drag car with an FE and a '65 coupe I can road course race. Are there any rules I need to be aware of in order to compete in some type sanctioning body? On the '63, I was going to put a SBF in it to race, but then all I'd be able to do would be to bracket race it, with the FE I'll be able to run NSS or bracket race it, I want the Mustang to fall within some guidelines so that I might be able to compete with it somewhere. Or start a AI South series.
