Mustang GT = Camaro LT1
Mustang Cobra = Camaro LS1

The equals sign does not connote power, rather it is to show that we shouldn't be comparing a GT to an LS1 simply because they are not in the same league. I am also not saying that a Cobra is faster than an LS1, but again, it's a matter of comparing apples to apples here.

That said, I'd take a 32v 4.6 cobra over a Z28 anyday (strictly performance speaking, nothing to do with aesthetics). And no, the 4.6 won't be faster stock for stock, but it sure as hell responds nicely to mods.

Closest thing Ford has to the 350 is the 5.4 litre engine, they put it in the '95 cobra R (correct me if I'm wrong) but it was never made widely available by FRPP...(think: cost effective)

14 lbs of boost on a stock long block and a ragged edge tune can get ya very comfortabley ahead of an ls1 with an a4 auto with a couple bolt ons.... even if you had a cylinder eating the green stuff.

Seriously... BOOST is your friend when it comes to LS1's. (just make sure you don't tune to aggressive....lol)

ive had it out wit a few ls1s, and wit wats done to my car plus a 50 shot of nos. It was a driver race between us. He got consistent take off every time and 2 out of the 3 i got a good take off and i won those 2 times. I dont understand how full h/c/i cars barely beatin stock ls1s. Ive seen full h/c/i mustangs run 12.0. I know a car right now that runs 12.6 and its got stock ported heads, f cam, and trick flow intake. Car stock weight. I think for ls1 makin 300rwhp stock, our mustangs do pretty damn good against them. and modded our cars do better. i know for our cars to run u need suspension and stuff liek that but bout any car u do. Ive held my own against a few ls1s wit just a 50 shot so its possible to take them wit more spray or lil more work. Also u gotta look at it. Wat did they pay for there car, and wat did we pay for ours. I have bout 4300 in my car,, has higher miles but still runs like a champ. I coudl buy a stroker long block and few parts, a built transmission, a built rear end, and completly do the suspension for wat some of these people are payin for there ls1s. Then we will see whos runnin wat.

Dont mean to rain in your parade. But those must have been some sorry ass drivers. Or you must have just raced up to 60 mph. LS1's are no joke and there is very little chance to none a healthy bolt on 5.0 will beat a healthy LS1's.

Yes you need a H/C/I (12.9 car avg) car to run an ls1 (unmodded). Other than that KC was running 12.03 with h.c/i - which still puzzles me to this day how he is running .7tenths better than most people. I still dont know what the secret was.. Best I can guess was slicks, no seats but driver seat, no 25# fender weight, other weight reduction and tear throught the gears..

I have a fiberglass hood in my plans. And I think the only thing not mentioned in my mods is 1.7 RR's

I looked at one of those in 95. They wouldn't even let me open the hood at the dealer.

drakesdad and Matt,

I AM stationed at Little Creek, and the only thing I ever received from Emporia on my trip through was a 70 in a 55, LOL. And a good laugh at Elliot Sadler when he did the stage dive this year, ROFL.

I always though the LT1's were faster. My buddy has one in his Trans Am and that thing is pretty quick.

But they have the big heavy steel braces on it.

And are you sure its fiberglass? I have always thought they were metal.

I'm pretty sure our hoods are not fiberglass. knock on the front bumper a few times with your knuckle then do it to the hood and notice the difference. it's definately metal.

The hoods are NOT metal. anyone who has done any body work on our cars should be able to attest to this. I can post pictures if anybody wants evidence. That said, they aren't exactly light either. There is substantial metal bracing underneath as has been noted already.

The front bumpers are also not fiberglass, they're urethane - much more flexible
