Ok, here is the deal...at 4:30am this morning myself, my family, and a few guests left for the beach. I was driving my parents 04 altima with my girlfriend, my brother, and his girlfriend. Around 9:00am I was casually driving in the fast lane behind a dodge pickup truck, going through Virginia. All of a sudden the dodge pickup swerves into the right lane and slammes on its brakes. I look over to see a cop on the side of the road, then pulling out onto the highway. He proceeded to pull me over. When he walked up to the car he came to the driverside door and just stood there. He didn't say anything, look into the car, or ask for my drivers license and registration. This continued for a few moments..then I assumed he wanted my license and registration, which I then proceeded to give him. He then tells me that I was driving 85mph and rudely asks me why I was driving that speed. I told him that I was going to the beach with my family and lost track of my parents who I was following(which was completely true). I also told him that I didn't know where I was going and honestly wasn't paying attention to my speed. He then rudely and semi-angrily asks me "why 85mph!?" He then turned and went back to his cruiser. After a long time he came back to my car with what I assumed would be a ticket. Instead it was a paper saying that I needed to appear at court, in VA 4hrs from where I live, on a certain date, no ticket. It turns out I was driving 85mph in what was a 60mph zone. He then told me that it was mandatory that I attend this court session, depite the fact that it was sooo far away. This confused me so I asked again that I wasn't getting but a mandatory court appearance and he rudely told me that I had to attend. After this he said "dont get hit when you pull back onto the highway" and went back to his cruiser. I don't understand, I have a clean record and was polite as possible but he was still not lient or even polite to me. I understand that I am completely at fault, nobody else, but I am pissed that I am now going to have to take off a day of work and drive 8hrs+ round trip to go to court for a ticket. What are your guys opinions on what I should do or what I can do and what I can expect in court. Thanks...I needed to rant somewhere about this.

Find that cops house and have fun!!!!!!!!!

Serioulsly though, my uncle went throughthe same thing, driving from Nogales, Sonora. He was caught going 8 over. And the cop was like a straight up hill billie, he was rude, and my uncle had never been pulled over, so he was nice but scared. he had insurance and all, he had to take a day of to drive over here.

Call the court were you need to go, maybe you can work things out.

If there is no courthouse .... then you won't have to go to court. :D

J/K, but I honestly don't know what to tell you on this one. I was caught speeding the exact same way a couple of weeks ago. I was drafting with a Ranger when all of a sudden he gets over & slams on the brakes. 80 in a 65. Really sux.

Dude, I grew up in VA and I don't miss those guys one bit.....out of all the states I've been in and received tickets I feel they are the worst......not ripping on them....just saying I've never known them to give breaks......I've had nice ones but they still wrote the ticket.......I would say dress up, be very courteous to the judge and ask for mercy......

Justin...radar detectors are a big :nonono: there.....they will take them and fine you.....at least in the late 80's/early 90's they did....when I go home I run 5 to 8 over and that's it..........on topic do you know what county/city you were in..Fairfax VA is the worst I've ran into....

Fairfax is the worst with everything. We used to do fireworks shoots there and the fire marshels were pricks. They would tell us how to do **** we're like yeah ok been doing this for years we know how to do it. My dad has been shooting fireworks since the 70's I think he knows how its done by now.

the laws in Virginia are complete bullsh**. The whole 4 years I was there attending VT, I had more problems dealing with power crazed ******* cops than any other time in my life. That whole state is set up to f*** you over in any way it can. And ANY offense or ticket requires a court appearance, even something stupid like underage possession of alcohol (like a slap on the wrist for a college student). I DON'T miss that state at all.

My advice, next time on your way to the beach, either fly or get out on the shore at the Virginia border and swim till you hit north carolina lol j/k

i didnt read any of this. my suggestion regardless of what happened: DON'T SPEED. for *****s sake...even when i had the stang....i drove 55. call me old fashioned...but damn, i got good mileage and i didnt get pulled over. speeding doesnt save you THAT much time. don't speed. /rant

At least they have a chick on their state flag with her tit hanging out.

That's a drag I feel your pain. All cops are dicks and the one's that
do pull me over try to give me a hard time too.
You should get a good lawyer and have him go to court for you
and your case could get thrown in the trash and you will only
have to pay the lawyer's fee and you won't have to loss a weeks
pay at work and you won't have to go through eight hours of
driving h*** lol! :nice:
Good luck I hope everything works out for you and watch out for
those pigs.

I would do as said earlier, contact the courts where you are supposed to attend, ask to speak to somebody in reference to a change of location, see what they can do. However, do it soon, if they see that you're trying to take care of it immediately, they'll be alot more willing to work with you on sorting it out.

I would take this advice, it's probably the smartest thing you can do :nice:
