Just Converted to manual on a 66 coupe v-8 original. All you need is a manual center link, disregard any other information about the pitman arm, idler arm, and tie rods. For future swaps, I recommend using a "fork" removal tool for spreading all the joints. A small gear puller works just as well. The most troubling part was removing the bolt from the valve going into the pitman arm. :flag:

With my alignment, it pulls real hard to the right, making it easy to turn to the right. Turning left is pretty tough. Also with a powersteering Steering box, it makes it a little more difficult. I think its harder to drive for sure. The plus, is no more power steering leaks, no more rub with my drivers side header, chopped about 30 pounds, and picked up a few ponies.

I did the same mod a while back on my 66 and only changed the centerlink. It works great. It is harder to turn than with power steering but it is not bad at all on mine. The stock steering wheel gives plenty of leverage. I have lightened my frontend a good bit (aluminum intake, heads, water pump, etc) so that helps make the steering lighter as well. Less drag on the motor, 30 lbs or so off the front, no more leaks, and cleans up the looks under the hood. :nice:
