Manual Tranny Fluid ?

hey guys,

i am ready to fill my tranny after installing my motor and tranny but i am finding a lot of different opinions on what atf to use on my manual tranny.

haynes manual says mercon, i have ready mercon IV and dex/mer. I bought some transmax dex/merc, but i am not sure if this is the correct kind to use.

can someone please confirm for me what tranny fluid i should be using?

Thanks, just to clarify, the transmax dex/merc I bought is fine or dex3/ mercon u mentioned above? Or are they the same?

Also, I read on another forum that merconV replaced mercon. Sorry for all the ?s, I just want to do it right tge 1st time.

Any newer version of Mercon or Dexron is backwards compatible with older versions. For an example, if something calls for Mercon IV, you can use Mercon V instead.

yep I just did a tranny swap, and put in a temporary non world class t5 and I used standard dex merc
