Changed over to mass air over week-end and fired car up.It runs terribly, sounds like its on 7 cylinders.I followed directions with conversion kit and checked all connections. There okay, wondering if computer might be problem. It came out of 91 mercury cougar 5.0 HO.I wonder if there's the difference. If anyone has any suggestions would be greatly appreicated.

Time to check codes for starters. run a code test and see what comes up. I'll give you some links to helpful tips with diagrams, codes and how to do the test to get codes...

Yes computer is probably different , post up the code and someone may be able to find a pinout for the PCM , but I would be looking for a mustangs computer if I were you.

There's conversion kits available for converting a speed density car to mass air. Comes with the Maf sensor/wire harness to computer/computer extra. Most use the a9l for manual and a9p for automatic although the a9p can be for 5sp or auto. It has instructions for which pins on the computer to run The mass air sensor harness too and which pins to splice into and which to move to different positions on the computer 60 pin connector. Even I was able to do it. Made & pieced together my own kit though
