Mass air meter question

i just got my PMAS mass air meter in the mail and noticed that it's bigger than what i ordered. will it be too much? do i need to send it back?

i ordered an 80mm mass air meter and i opened the package to find this.

85mm mass air meter it's calibrated correctly, but i heard that it could actually be overkill

It shouldn't matter if its calibrated correctly for your injectors. It would be different if you were referring to TB's instead. There was a thread on how a larger MAF reads the larger volume of air and converts it to a signal (voltage) of 0-5. In fact that is what the calibrating is all about...converting the volume of airflow from the MAF into a voltage signal based on the injector size to the computer.

P.S. this is an oversimplification.

Size Doesnt matter on A MAF.. (unlike a TB)...If cal'd, shoud be fine...but it's your call to send it back or not.

I was just looking at the PMAS site and it looks like you got the flanged meter as it was the only 85mm meter I saw there.

As long as the cal is for 30's I guess it would be ok.

As for me, I would want the regular shorty 80 maf as you can clock it in any position that is needed. IMHO, that gives more options for getting it installed and rigging up a home made cai.

The flange requires just one more adapter that the regular style does not need.
