max power on stock 2v heads?

I have been looking around but could not find the max amount of hp anyone has got with stock 2v heads on a forced induction engine. Does anyone know what you can make with a built bottom end, intake, cams, exhaust and say 15-16lbs of boost on stock unported heads? also all supporting mods needed. Would 500's be in reach? Thanks!

Yes.

Many bone-stock internal 4.6 2Vs are making 450HP at the crank with just 10 pounds of boost...

The question I would have is this: Why would one go to the trouble and expense of building a stout bottom end, getting good cams and putting blower on it all the way up at 15+ psi and stick with bone stock head castings? You could, but why?

Why not at least give them a bit of a bowl cleanup? Work the short-side radius a bit? A decent valve job? Or better, trade up to TFS heads or ported PI parts...

Seems weird to put so much money and effort into the whole package and then gaffe at the last minute by going cheap on the parts that are allowing air into and out of the engine. It's like getting this super-awesome milkshake and then trying to sip it out with a tiny little straw...

"Horsepower", the saying goes, "is in the heads." Approach the package that way: That stout bottom end should be built to withstand the power the heads will produce, not in spite of them.

The idea was to build a strong bottom end and then later down the road when I have more money I would add some heads, I was just curious to see how much hp the stock heads could really flow because I could not find anything online, which I still have no anwser for. I didnt ask this question because I wanted to be the first person to break 1000hp with stock PI heads I just wanted to know the capabilities of all the stock components on my 2v. I found plenty of info on the stock rods, pistons and crank, aslo the 3650 transmission and other drivetrain parts. And thank you Rconaway, that was the anwser I was looking for, now I just need to decide if its cheaper to port or buy a new set of heads!

With 12 lbs of boost, we got to about 420rwhp. Had Livernois port the heads and change the cams and I'm getting another 200+hp with 14-16lbs of boost. With some tuning, newer impeller, and higher octane fuel, I should be able to hit 750Hp. Might need a bigger MAF though.

Thats some crazy power on stock PI heads, it sounds like a little porting and you can get a lot more power out of it. I know a person that does pretty cheap port work with a flow bench, been doing it for a little while. I wish a bottom end was as cheap to build as a 5.0!
