Thanks for the congrats, we are just about up on our one year anniversary, we haven't decided what we want to do, do yall have any suggestions? We were thinking about rolling up to Kansas City and going to the amusement park up there, or possibly hitting up a Royals game, not quite sure.
Well, you guys got married in June, so you want to be cool. Therefore, I don't know if you'd be interested in how Sue and I spend a weekend in late October; but I'll tell you anyway. Anniversaries are -at least in our minds- moments to share with
out others; so we try to celebrat a nice fall weekend in a
Jacuzzi suite at one of the finer innkeepers about town. Works out well in the packing department too! - You only have to
really pack a change of underware and socks (if they have excellent room service); or maybe some 'fancy dress' stuff if the room service leans more towards "Sucks", and you plan on going to a finer eating establishment nearby. Even robes are optional; just throw on a pair of pants when the room service guy shows up -your wife can hide in the bedroom 'til he leaves.
Limo rides are cool., too.... on Sue's birthday (February 20), we had a 217 foot long (okay, I'm exagerrating, maybe it was only
117 feet long) Lincoln pick us up for a trip to Red Lobster -her choice, but the King Crab is great and the steaks
are edible if the guy in the kitchen
really understands the term "medium-rare". From there we went to Cocopah Casino; which was a first for us even after 20 years back in Yuma. (All the electronic bells give me a migraine inside 30 minutes)
We roll up to the Casino in the huge-azz limo, the security guy at the door grabs his radio mic; and 4-5 greeters run out to take us to the "Players' Club" to check in.
2-1/2 hours later, while my head is starting to implode (again, this part of the trip was the Birthday Girl's idea); I calm myself a little by totting up how much we spent on the slots - sum total=28 bucks. At one point we were 'up' about $325; but we just kept punching the "Play" buttons and watched the wheels spin 'round and 'round.
When we "ran out"; we ambled towards the door as Rufus
(I swear to God, I called him on it and he showed me his license - his name really was "Rufus"!) mysteriously rolled up in the Battlestar Abraham at just the right time to take us back to chez StangDreamin'.
To put it mildly, the entire night was awe-inspiring, mostly the part about the limo ride. Even after I paid the $380 tab on the car, Rufus would
not tell me how he 'knew' to pull out of the bus parking lot at
exactly the correct time to be at the door as we walked out; but I'm pretty sure he was paying somebody off at both the restaurant and the Casino.
So there you go... two ideas for the price of one.
