Finally got the distributor out of the car today to replace the stator. Anyway, when I turn the shaft manually with the dizzy out of the car, something grinds a little bit, and it appears to be the stator. Also, I dumped some metal shaving out of the dizzy and the main shaft has some play in it. I'm sure I need a new distributor, but I'm curious if something else caused this or it just went bad on its own. Thanks.
