mid pipe bolts stuck, help!!

alright, the studs that connect the header flange to the top of the h pipe are stuck in the header flange, and i need to get them out, how can i go about that?

When you say "stuck" do you mean stripped or too hard to turn?
I'd start by hitting them up with some PB blaster a few times and letting it sit.

Get some penetrating(sp) oil, spray it down, wait a few hours, maybe a day, and turn the wrench. That is if they're stuck as in not moving.

If they're stripped, you can drill them or you can use a punch and make it into a flathead screw, and try that.

by stuck i mean that the studs are kind of rusty so they wont turn, but the nuts came off the studs so its just threads on both sides, anyone have any ideas?

Spray the PB blaster i suggest on there. I've literally watched how it eats and washes rust off.

On my work van i had to change the header gasket and all the bolt s were stuck, I sprayed them a few times with a few hours between, and all the rust came off and stained the driveway.

On the other hand, why do you want to get the studs out if you got the nuts off already?

because i need to thread them from the other side so i have enough room to bolt the h pipe back in....i kinda got in a hurry to drive my car again and threaded them in the wrong way

try some sort of penetrating liquid. liquid wrench works well. going to be hard to turn a stud without wrecking the threads.

i have new studs so im not really worried about wrecking the old ones, anthing else i can try? ive sprayed them with pb blaster

are there enough threads to get two nuts on it and use the jam nut procedure where you put 2 nuts on, tighten the top one against the bottom one and then try getting a wrench on the bottom one and turning it............

I'll assume the headers are on the car? You may need to take them off, then use vice grips on them.

To separate that rear H pipe connection, put a jack
under the rear trans mount, loosen it, and let it down
some.

You can, but i'd plan on replacing them with bolts and nuts, instead of studs, because you will likely ruin the threads.

i already went out and bought the same size bolts with the same thread pitch and nuts to go along with them, so should i just drill the header hole out until the bolt just slides through? or should i try and save the threads?

You can do your best to save the threads, but i wouldn't count on it.
If you do minimal damage to the threads, the right size tap may clean them right up.

Dremel if you can get it in there. If you have other hardware to use, just cut the old stuff off and be done with it.
