Midpipe Install

hey all. i'm going to be attempting to install my o/r H pipe this weekend in addition to my magnapacks ..I'm not too mechanically inclined and this will be my first mod on my stang that I'll be doing myself. As for tools, this is what I have planned to use for the midpipe:

Socket Wrench
10" extension
Universal joint head (like a swivel that attaches to 10" ext.)
1.5" 15mm socket
PB blaster

that's what i plan on using for the one passenger side header bolt. i hear its tough to reach. Will that work?

As for all the other bolts, i'll just use a basic socket wrench with sockets. I hear all the other bolts are easy.

Hows this sound? Good, Bad..?

be very careful, and make sure you spray the bolt down with some penetrating oil the night before. my friend who has no experience with cars couldn't wait for me to come over and help him with the swap, and he ended up striping the bolt. the shop wanted to charge him $100 to cut the bolt off. he ended up having to return the mid-pipe, because he didn't have enough money to get the bolt cut off.

well my car is a 2000 and has 24k miles on it so I don't think it'll be that hard..or so I've been told. I'll spray all the bolts down and let them sit 30-45 mins.

his was an 03 with 20,000 on it. just do yourself a favor and let them soak as long as possible. it will save you a lot of time, and bloody knuckles. I sprayed mine down the night before, then about 2 hours before i started, and they came right off, and mine had been on there for 120,000 miles

Fair enough. Could I drive it after I spray them down because I'm doing the install Sunday and need to make a few errands Sunday morning.

yes it wont hurt anything. get a friend, it helps alot. its not to hard to do but an extra set of hands goes a lomg ways.

just allow some time to let the car cool down before you start working on it. Those cats stay hot for a long time.

That's good to hear. I'll try to spray it down tomorrow night and I'm definitely having a buddy help me out.
