I picked up some second hand rims at a crazy low price. Polished and sanded them for a few hours, got them shined up and swapped onto my good tires (you know, the no burnout ones) and mounted today. Not bad for $75 bucks.

Yeah I know my paint and panel gaps suck....I started on the motor and interior first, so just getting going on exterior.

Thanks guys, the chrome is peeling inside the lug holes and on the inner rim some bubbling but for this car, they are just fine.

Landed another score on some seats without metal poking me in the butt! These were $150+gas to drive 2.5 hours and the $25 for the carpet shampooer rental to clean them, so $200 all in and now I have multi position power adjustable driver! I love the pony emblem! I have a mix and match black and grey interior intentionally so these fit on perfect.

I love a good deal!

Nice score for $75! The rims cleaned up great, and tackling the motor and interior first is always a smart move. The exterior will come together in time!

Another Facebook marketplace score, just $100. Now this one is really rough, going to be some cutting and new fiberglassing to get it even close to straight.

3 rounds of cutting and re- fiberglassing and 4 rounds of body filler later, I'm surprised how well it's going. This hood was all cracked up and outta wack. Rachet strap was the go to tool this time around. Hopefully these are the last pinholes.

Since you're doing all of that already... I'm just going to leave this here and walk away:

There are flat black ones that can be painted too.

I have the flat black ones on my 6" cowl carbon fiber hood.
They have been "race tested" to over 160 mph.
They work excellent. Mine are not the the locking kind though
Because Racecar.

The backside of the driver side corner sits at the level of the cowl panel and fender, as it should. Tha passenger side sits above the fender a bit and the fender gap over there is bigger. Not really noticeable when driving down the road. It's just warped. Considering how rough it was to start, it's a win and looks "in place" with this car.

Have you looked into getting it onto a frame checker/straightener?

I had mine done before I installed my SFCs (many moons ago). It was not very expensive from what I remember.

Most collision centers have these.

I had that done to both my cars before subframe installation. Once you weld them in any frame issues are locked in unless you cut them out.

Thanks for the suggestion, but anything automotive labor related is expensive these days!

The only place you can really tell is at the hatch lid where the gap is just slightly inconsistent and the front aero nose clip to fender fitment passanger side which is just out 1/16. If you zoom in on the picture you can see it. You could honestly claim it was just built on a Friday. It's not out enough to bother me, good character. A professional paint and body job would be able to massage the alignment, I'm sure. This hood misalignment is more about the bad condition of the old hood rather than the frame. I had to cut the supports appart, clamp with a rachet strap, and refiberglass the reinforcements at 3 different places to get the fit to what it is now. I'm sure that helped warp it worse. I could not afford a new version.

On a side note, when I was getting quotes to get it repainted I found out not only was I NOT getting it professionally repainted but that a above average to good body man with experience these days is pulling 110-120k a year in my area.........I was suprised to learn that, but it tracks. Had a good conversation with the sales guy. He told me that he could not afford to get his car painted if it was not an insurance job either.

I painted that hood by decanning a rustoleum turbo can and putting it in my amazon spray gun. Some day once I have saved enough I'll take it to Macco and get real paint on it. It being white helps alot being able to fudge that. I custom molded in that cobra insert also with bumper flex body filler and a LMR insert. its painted the same way!

My buddy does paint/body work (fairly recently)... he shocked me when he told me prices of some of the paint jobs the shop he works for charges. Not saying its overpriced but damn, i wasn't expecting to hear his 'average job' number.

I'm hoping he's still in the business by the time i need a respray, many years down the road.
