I understand however 3500 for a near mint all orignal 5.0 with 54k miles?Heres pics
I didn't mean that as an insult...and $3500 is a steal for a car that clean, low miles or not. I'm just stating that out of all the roller 302's i think the '86 is the worst of them mainly because of the pistons. It's pretty straight forward even to swap the crappy heads and intake off of it and maybe even a better cam but you either have to notch the pistons (not a big fan myself) or rebuild the engine with different pistons...which unless you're planning to build an engine you would be better off going to a junkyard and getting an Explorer 302 and bolting the whole thing in. Not only will you pick up mass air but also better heads, better intake, and pistons that have enough valve relief to run around a .550 lift cam depending on duration.
It's not a bad motor, it's just the bottom of the list compared to the rest of their generation.
(Last I read, the '85 GT's had 210 and the '86 had 200, and then the '87 had 225 with the E7 heads and different cam/pistons.)
