Anyone running a mini tubs here?

I would liek to really tuck a 10.5 tire INSIDE the wheel well with no rubbing broblems...AND a little room to spare if maybe i needed/wanted to go bigger.

The 70 WILL be being set up for the local racing and track nights mostly just on the weekends.

I plan on running a heavy hitting 351w with spray, trans brake, 9 inch and caltracs etc...But if i were to use mini tubs...Wouldent i need to move the spring perches over a little bit

Is this bad for launching? Or will it help me out?

Im running 15 X 10 wheels with 6.5 BS on my 69 with 295-50-15 tires. They have a 11.7 section width. I had to cut of a little of the bump stop, reroute the fuel line to the inside and cut a small section of the inner wheel well.
I have .5" clearance to the leaf springs.

Well i would like a little more then .5 an inch i think...

If im going to have to cut the wheel well at all i may as well add a mini tub..

I dont plan on using a back seat and i will mount my bottle and a compartment for my relays and such back there

275/50-15 is excatly 10.5" wide on an 8.5" rim. i have 275/50-15s on th back of my car i did have to roll the fender lips but it could be done without having to roll the lip with a wheel that has a little more backspacing. i have 15x8's in the back with 4.5" backspace, with a 4.75" or 5" backspace the wheel lips won't need to be rolled at all and you'll have plenty of clearance to the leaf spring. no need to even do a mini-tub if all you want is a 10.5" tire

I think I am going to use the stock inner wheelhousings and move them in. Then I will weld an inch or two spacer in the middle. In the process, if I was going to use the same frame rails I would cut off the rebound bumpers and move them to the inside of the rails. If you guys have any input on that, post up your ideas

Thats a good idea dude..

I want to be able to have room to fit MORE then a 10.5 tucked in...if for whatever reason i spin a 10.5 mickey drag radial...or a slick then i guess a bigger tire would be needed..

But i DOUBT i will need bigger i just want to have room to grow lol

I am working on this right now. It's taking a while, maybe be a week to a week and a half each side (working nights). I can't wait to see how big I can go.

That's what I'm going to do. I need/want a larger tire as well. Looking to keep as much of the interior in as possible; a request my kids made to me since my last 3 stangs had only 2 front race seats.
