Hey so I am heading back to the mainland from Hawaii and depending on the job may end up in an emissions testing area like Maryland or something. I dont want to get rid of my fox and my emissions stuff is gone. WHat about swapping in a 4.6 2v with a kenne bell. Still a lotta fun and should pass a lot of places except cali. Just keeping stock cams and such. DO I have any good alternatives?

With no emmissions equipment a mod motor likely won't pass either. Put a catted x pipe on, and in most cases that will get it to pass.

I dont know about that I had the factory h-pipe on my ride and it failed....due to mods......emmisions is strict but then again its gone here YES!!!!!!!!

I disagree, it should pass, if properly tuned. If these parts get cali smog legal certification, they should pass with ease most other places. I've seen 5.0 mustangs that make upwards of 450rwhp pass emissions.

Properly tuning and injected make all the difference, if your injectors are too big, it will likely load up on idle and not pass.

It should pass with cats.
Some states have visual inspections too, but in NJ a 20 year old car is really too old for them to figure out, so if the sniffer says it passes, it passes.

Before my most recent combo, my car had passed with stock cats, no egr and no air pump.
