well i got bored this weekend, so i decided to strip the clear off the lip, and polish. I couldn't believe the difference! I would have to say im 100% satisfied with the results!

thanks man! i just carefully masked off around the painted area, sprayed with Mar Hydes "Aircraft Paint Remover" within seconds the clear just flakes off. then simply hose it off, and polish.

I'd also like to know the upkeep intervals ....

Also .... did your Bullitt's have lines in the aluminum before you stripped it? Mine does. I think I would have to actually sand it all out to polish them. Did you?

looks great, man!

i've been trying to find 17x9 bullitt wheels w/ a slight lip to replace my stock 17x8 bullitts up front. where'd you find those?

My clear is peeling in places. I need to do this. What did you use to polish them?

sorry for the late reply guys, but once the clear has been stripped off. there was absolutly no sanding. what you see was simply removing the clear, and hand polishing with mothers billet. I also tried hollywoods polish works awesome too!

as for the "lines" in the metal, once the clear is removed there isnt any "lines" left. the only downside to this is the upkeep, but figure every two or three washes, just give em a quik polish and your done. I also noticed the polish works as a wax, water just rolls right off.

never used it myself, its kinda exspensive though? isn't it?

are those stock bullit wheels? polishing the lip makes them look alot wider.

great job. i think i will do the same so they can match a set of aftermarket deep dish in the back one day

That looks really good! I may have to try that on my FR500's some day, there seems to be little white specs in the clear coat on the rear dish that won't come-out.

in my opinion, the polished part gives the wheel a different look. for one, it looks awesome. two, its different then the other million sets out there.

It really looks that much different?

Mine looked like your look in the pics when I first got them. I didnt even know they had a clear on them.

Do you think it would be possible to get nicks out of the lip? I dropped lug nuts on them a few times.

no joke man, it went from a hazed clear coated lip, to a mirror finish. as far as dings and stuff, you would have to sand them out, but it could be done.

But what about the freshly polished shine compared to the wheels when they were new?

It looks the same huh? Cause ill probably put some clear on it to keep it shiny longer.
