OK so my family is expanding and I'm looking to trade the Stang in on a Crown Vic Sport or Merc Marauder.
You can see in my sig the mods I have, what do you all think about me just trading it as is, I'm not too thrilled about putting it back to stock. Putting the wing and small stuff is no big deal, the exhaust on the other hand.......
I guess the dealer could just sell it to an auto auction, so what is the consensus?

It depends. Most dealers aren't going to care whether its stock or modified when trade-in value is given. In that case, I would definitely swap the easy stuff back onto the car. Then sell your mods in the classifieds or Ebay and get some extra money back out of it.

The exhaust though....well, its illegal. Now whether the dealer cares or not depends on the dealer and they may deduct from the trade-in value what it costs to put a stock H-pipe back on the car. IIRC, the stock pipe retails for an utterly rediculous $1200 or so.

As far as changing it back to stock....depends on if your state has a state inspection. If not, the dealer wouldnt have to change the tint and exahust to pass inspection, so it wouldnt cost them any money which is good. If you do have an inspection the dealer will deffinatly low ball you to make the nessasary changes.

Mods dont add any vaule to the car, if anything they will reduce the value. Hard to say what the vaule of your car is if you trade it in because you didnt say how many miles, and there is no ABS or traction control, which might be a turn off to some people.

Try to sell it yourself if you can.

I would deffinetly sell the rims. I think i would do the exhaust only if the dealer has a problem with it. I dont personally think the time involved with swapping it is worth the used prices you'll get for it.

That's pretty cool...I'd get a Crown Vic or Marauder if I needed a family car as well. A hell of a lot better than a minivan or SUV.

I've always wondered...does anyone make a cat-back for the Crown Vic? I don't know the differences between the modified Fox and the Panther platforms, but would a Mustang 4.6l catback fit on a Crown Vic? An exhaust that brought out the V8 sound more would make for a family car that one's kids would want to pick them up from school...

take off what you can, like the rims, and put the stockers back on. dealerships wont give you any extra for a modded car. heeck maybe even save them for a possible future stang. I sold my 99 cobra and never installed my mm full length subs, well then I bought a 03 cobra a couple of months later and on went the subs. makes me wish I had not sold my nitrous kit I never put on the 99.

Sell the car yourself. Detail the crap out of it and you will get at least twice as much as the dealer will give you (if not more). I have sold two cars, both which I had for 4 years, for the exact same amount (or really close) that I paid for the vehicles. Trading your car in is like giving it away and the person you give it to, in return writes you a 'thanks for the car' check.

Oh yeah, I like Crown Vics and Marauders. My mom has a crown vic and it looks like it has PI heads on it which makes me want to tear it apart and swap mine (98 GT) lol .. She doesn't seem too excited about the notion. I know her car has the newer intake with the aluminum crossover but does anyone know if a 2002 crown vic has PI heads? I am curious.

Its only got 7800 miles on it and the rims came with it, it was a factory option. There is NO way I'm putting the springs back in etc.
Plus,, I just went to the garage and broke one of my friggen jack stands when I decided to at least switch the h-pipe back on, now I'm just gonna go with what I got.

I agree with DTNODYA, you will get the most money if you sell it yourself...

Find someone with the "spring fever" and charge them retail book value+
