Mods to do w/Supercharger in Mind

for example I am going to get the KB intercooled kit eventually. I can go to 14psi and like 500hp with just that kit. my stock rear, clutch, rods, pistons, tranny proably would not like that. so I did the rear, will do the tranny and the clutch next. will probablay try to run the car to 100k to 120k at 9spi and then do a forged motor if it lives that long then run 12psi or so.
Unless you're talking flywheel horsepower, you'd better start saving now for enough race gas to run every day for the rest of your engines life, because that's the only way you're going to see a that kind of power with a daily driver and that blower...even with all of the bolt ons. You gotta think bigger than a 1.7L if you want those kind of power leves and to own a reliable daily driver that's still able to fill up at the average gas pump.

Yes I meant 31 spline, but anyway yes uppers too. You start making power with a blower and the suspension loads up and you end up with no traction.

Just because you have uppers doesn't mean you loose your ride quality. Going with all spherical bushings maybe but otherwise no.

Need a bigger picture of your avatar . . .

if going boosted I would just beaf up the car. 31 spline axles, gear it for the intended power level, rear control amrs, subframes, transmission, clutch, forged pistons, rods.

The reality once you go boosted you stock heads, cams, exhaust are all still good to 500hp+ with enough boost and the right intercooler. the rest of the car is not.

Beef that car up B4 you get blown! Nothing less than subframes & gears to start. Maybe the axles/clutch/trans when you get to putting a forged bottom end on that thing. You'll need better breathing: Headers/Midpipe/Catback and P&P'd heads with good blower cams, new valve springs etc. You will also want to consider upgrading your fuel system with possibly 42psi injectors, an FMU (Fuel Management Unit), and it wouldn't hurt to consider upgrading the electrical as well. Here's how I would go about it all:

Upgrades to car:
1. Subframes and Gears/Axles (The gears will wake your car up, get the axles done when you have this done. Go 3.73s for KB)
2. Exhaust Mods (This helps too!)
3. Acquire the supercharger, install on stock motor but limit it to 8 or 9 lbs MAX!
4. Start accumulating forged parts (crankshaft, piston rods, pistons, etc.)
5. Acquire a block if you want to save downtime. Maybe consider an aluminum block to save weight.
6. You may want to consider getting an upgraded transmission and clutch. A T56 would be a nice compliment here, but you would require a shortened driveshaft for it.
7. When the time comes for the swap, pull engine/transmission out of car. Install heads and supercharger and headers on forged shortblock. (You should also install upgraded injectors and fuel system, get heads P&P'd and install new cams and up your blower PSI to 12-15lbs psi).
8. Break the new block in like a new motor when installed.
9. Change oil and filter and drive it like you stole it! Drag radials will help a lot on the rear wheels too!
10. Sell off your used transmission and shortblock (if it's still good!) to recoup some of the money used in the upgrades.
