My friend bought me a Sean Hyland "How to build max-performance 4.6-Liter Ford Engines. Its copyright 2003 so some of the stuff is out dated but i read that the Windsor PIs have a press on camshaft gear and the Romeo PIs have a bolt on.
This concerns me just because i want to make sure i have everything i need for a cam swap before i get too deep into the project.
Anybody with a cam swaped Windsor have to get the cam gears too?

A little birdie once told me that the Winsdor heads have more PTV clearance than Romeo heads do, has anyone else heard that? It doesn't make sence to me that they would be that different, I assume that would mean the compression is different.

The Romeo engines do seem a tad bit stronger which would definately explain a higher compression theory.

And War-Party, why are you saying you have PTV problems with a .540 lift when other guys are running .550 with no prob? did you read that or is it personal experience? if so, that specific set of cams may have been instaled incorrectly. but also high lift cams are usually race only and are above.550 and the people that buy them have built bottom ends.

but not I

just a blue collar, shade tree bolt on guy!
