Ok I need to know if there is any difference in the crank timing sprocket, crank timing-chain sprockets, timing-chain guides, timing-chain tensioners, etc between a GT and a Cobra. I would expect the chains and cam gears are different between the 2V and 4V but what about everything else?
I'm assembling all of the parts for a Cobra short block using Non-PI heads. Couldn't I use any of the GT sprockets and timing chain guides etc, on the cobra block or are those parts specific between the Cobra and GT blocks? I just assumed that "modular" still applies to those parts also. I mean, I could mix and match 96-04 GT sprockets right? Aren't they all the same (excluding cam sprockets - I know there are bolt on/press-on)? Please help.
I already have a Cobra timing cover, rear cover, oil-cooler/filter mount and electric water pump. Is there anything else that is specific to the Cobra block that will not transfer over from the GT block?

I was told I'd need a 4-valve timing cover. Is the width of the deck on a 4-valve head wider than the deck of 2-valve head? I can see the physical differences in the two timing covers, but I was just going on the info I was given.
