Yesterday I decided to change the oil in my 02 mustang from Motorcraft 5w-20 to Mobil One 0w-20... Anyway when I removed the oil cap there was a brownish white cream look to the stuff in the oil cap. I immediately freaked out and thought a head gasket was blown or damaged. So I finished the oil change, noted the oil level accurately and wiped the oil cap clean. Then I drove the car at least 10 miles to heat things up and the brownish white cream stuff (moisture) returned to the oil cap although not as thick this time.
I must say that the oil on the dipstick and the drained oil looked like it had no moisture in it. The car drives well and has no other sign of a blown head gasket.
So this afternoon I took the stang to the dealership and they said it is (fairly) normal to experience moisture in the oil system and brownish white cream stuff in the oil cap (they looked at it). The dealership claims the moisture accumulates in the raised portion of the oil cap...
So has anyone experienced this? It seems weird to me.
Thanks
