Here are my $60 (each!) metal bands for mounting the TPM. What a racket. What a bunch of crooks!

Well the good news is these have ratchet screws so you can re-use them as long as you stay with the same wheel size.

Also, the kits are offered to fit up to 24" wheels. So if you are upgrading to 19 or 20 inchers, you can but it will cost ya.

I'm sure you can pick up metal bands that size at about any hardware store for next to nothing.

I guess I don't see what is so special about that band either?? I would think shops like Tire discounters or whatever would provide some "after-market" ones for a LOT less $$

call the dealer and have them run the VIN in the system to tell you exactly what options your car has. or better yet, go there, and they can print you a copy!

DAMN! you paid $60 each for those???? i'm terribly sorry. there's no way in hell i'd pay that. i may be going the "put them all in a pvc pipe at 32psi" and stick it in the trunk. it's been done and has been working flawlessly for a long time [the thread is on here somewhere, or on mustangforums.com]. i switched to 20s and the entire process is simply a PITA.

Use caution when torquing the bands. I was tightening the last one and strap it broke right were it is crimped under the screw, and of course the dealer has to order a new kit because I had just bought his only four. Also, my dealer said you can't get just the bands for Ford right now only complete kits.

Has anyone found a way to disable TPMS through the PCM? It's got to be multiplexed into the PCM data bus somehow. SCT might be able to give us that option.

good luck with disabling it. it's "mandatory" by regulation, but let me know if you figure it out ;-)

Unlike the other mandated systems, the TPMS has a finite lifespan. The batteries in the sensors won't last forever, and if they start to die out, the replacement procedure is an unnecessary PITA.
