I'd say it all depends on your money situation. Get to know your local J/Y people. They can be your best friends. If you can pick up a nice low mileage engine and have it redone, "if nessasary" that's the route I would take. As long as your engine is running now, why spend a ton of money on a block. If you just have a bunch on money you want to get rid of then, send it to me.....LOL

Why fix something that isn't broke? Seriously don't worry about it until warning signs start showing up, that is if you say it's running as good as you say it is.

"Check it with a compression tester and/or a leak down tester to see what condition it's in "

Can any shop do this? I work at a dodge dealership thats why I ask. Have them find out for me. For the most part the car was taken care of and was lady driven. But I have some small issues I need to get fix -ie heater core and start up issue

Thanks so far guys

Yes, the dodge dealership should be able to do a compression test at the very least - hopefully they can do the leakdown too.

So I was doing some thinking. And before anyone says anything I did some searching but didnt see the answer I was actually looking for in a sense.

My car has a little over 180,000 miles on it. I am quite concern about the block even though it is running strong. SO basically my question is well more like what should I do is.

Should I go buy a block that someone else has taken off there car and bring it to a machine shop to get all new forged parts put in.

or

Should I just go and see what short blocks are available that already are all done up

Try this link for a great deal on a short block.

I dunno see thats why for the topic. Cause I rather take care of this before it does become an issue. BTW my plans for this car is to do the basic mods h/c/i and hopefully by next summer a s/c

Thanks in Advance
