Moroso Electric Drive water pump...How do they work???

I have decided to install an electric water pump in my 93 LX5.0. I came across this contraption on summit racing. How in blazes does it work? What additional parts do I need? Pic attached...

A friend of mine has one of those on his 340 Duster. The big cogged pulley goes in place of your stock water pump pulley, which is then belt driven off the electric motor that's mounted on a small bracket. It's not an actual electric water pump. You're just using an electric motor to turn the mechanical pump you already have. It's basically doing the same thing, just not doing it as pretty as the high zoot anodized electric pumps from companies like Meziere.

I wouldn't run one of those on the street, my buddy had one of those on his Ford Aspire with a 350 and the rotation seemed slow to me. The set up looked goofier than the car itself, anyway he's using a regular pump now.

What's nice about this, instead of the "high zoot" electric pumps, is you always have the option to use a stock belt should your electric motor fail.

Works fine on my race car. Have had no problems for years. Keeps the motor cool.
A replacement motor can be obtained at a parts store by getting a 79 mustang blower motor. I forget if it is with AC or not.

I dont know how you'd route the rest of the stock belt around that cogged setup. Unless you dont want power steering and the rest. Oh and it comes with a bracket that bolts directly to the waterpump bolts. Using the stock waterpump, you'll have to wire the motor backwards to cover the reverse rotation pump.

I believe there is a way to install it, so it can be used at the track only, then you can put the stock belt back on so you can drive it home. If this is a street car, i'd re-think the electric water pump idea.
The good ones are $300, unless you are 100% out of mods, i'd spend the money on improving engine parts instead.
