I'm about to do a motor swap pretty soon and was contemplating which motor to go with. i found a nice TT kit for it that i'm going to eventually install..but i'm seeing what combo would work the best..like 331 over a 302 or vice versa..any of yall who have experience in this field im open to suggestions...much appreciated

any reason why you want to go backward and use an old dinosaur pushrod motor? especially when mod motors love boost.

Are you asking about a stroked 281 and a 5.4? SOHC or DOHC? Personally id just do a forged 4.6 and if funds permit a DOHC version. Or find a Navigator DOHC 5.4 twin turbo would be bad arse

having an aluminum block would be really nice though, if you could find a k-member that lowered the motor 1-2 inches to really take advantage of a dry-sump, that would be soo nice.

Maybe he likes the idea of a motor that has a larger bore than stroke. That's what made those small blocks happy to rev and make good power doing it.

If your really considering twin turbo's, you can make more power than you'll know what to do with. The ol' 5.0 block tends to break in half above 500hp, but I'm not sure what the 4.6 block can handle when filled with proper rods and pistons.

For anyone to make an actaul recommendation, you need to say what the plan for the engine will be.. hp level, daily driven or not, power adders, ect. For example, taking the 302 to 347 puts the piston pin in the ring pack... not good for oil consumption or adding lots of boost.

like huff said i do like the larger bore and stroke and like to have a lot of motor its just my vision so to speak is to have something thats outright power..i don't wanna put any money into my motor i have now seeing how its got 166k+ on it, so when i swap ima do the full k member, rebuild the trans and just have this ridiculous bracket killer,street/strip monster on my hands. adding 2 turbos would make me a happy camper as well haha so with this project ima gonna go all out. enough procrastinating..i appreciate the input as well

It shouldn't at all be difficult to build a twin turbo small block that makes full boost by 2500-2800 rpm and still makes 500hp.

a modular engine can accomplish what your looking for and you'll have a lot less hassle with install. It'll be legal too.
