motor swap

ok, i posted a topic about this already and it was closed. I feel a little shunned. Look, i want to put a sbc in my 2000 gt. Not a big deal. Everyone here knows that chevy motors make a lot more power on half the budget. You can't deny it. If I had John Force's budget, I would build a ford big block, but I don't. Im 20 times more familiar with chevy motors also. But anyway, does anyone know of any good sources to help me swap a 350 into my 2000 gt? Please.

Don't worry about it, there are too many haters in here about swapping a chevy engine in a ford

I know it's a little out of stretch but there are a few LS1 94-04 mustangs out there, over on ls1tech.com, one of the guys fitted the LS1 and it fit great in there with changing one bolt on the motor mount


Can't really help you about the swap though

By the time you get that motor swapped in its not going to be any cheeper. Is your existing motor blown up or something? If you get a built short block and a blower youll have all the power you could ever use on the street. How much power do you want?

by 350 i'm guessing you mean an old iron carbed setup. if so then i doubt you'll find any useful info as this is a horrible idea and i don't think anyone is that, well, let's just say it's just a bad idea. possible? of course but you might as well ask how to put a carbed 350 sideways into a 2000 civic si

if you mean a fuel injected all aluminum genIII LSX engine then i think it's a cool idea and like mentioned before, i'm sure you can find info on it. this is very expensive so i'm sure you're looking into the first idea

if you want a faster car, spend $4k total on a blower and have a 400+hp car you can drive everyday and be done with it, or sell the GT and buy an old 3rd gen fbody or a monte carlo or something. faster and cheaper


bottom line is doing unique swaps like this usually end up being more expensive in the long run. remember there's a reason it's not more common

You won't get much info here on this...you might try the Chevy forums since they may be more receptive to your questions but most people here don't care for the type of swap you are doing. You are just asking to be shunned.

it's not the 70's anymore...parts are just plentiful and just as cheap for push rod Fords and push rod Chevys

there is no logical reason to put in 'miss-matched' engines and lots of good reasons not to

if you're dead set on a push rod engine in your late model stang get a 302 or 351 Ford, OTOH, if you're dead set on using a Chevy SB, get a GM product to put it in...

Well, I blew up my 4.6 so that is why i need to swap. I own a shop and work for an engine machiner so labor costs on anything are non existant. Im only worried strictly about parts costs. Just know that i have nothing against fords or anything, its just a well known FACT that chevy motors make a lot more hp on half the budget.... if i could build a 351 to make 600 hp on $1000 i would but it just isnt possible. So hey please if anyone has any ideas lemme know please, thanks.

I closed this topic for a reason the first time..

one reason is you will not find much help here..

another reason is threads like this start fights..

I have several good reasons why this swap is a bad idea, one of them is you will have to junk pretty much all of the electronics and comforts of the car to swap in this motor.

I am going to close this again, if you want to discuss somthing else on this forum then please do don't feel shunned, but SBC motors is not really 4.6 tech is it...

I will ban you if you post this again without PM'ing me first.

BTW you sure as hell are not going to be able to build a 600 SBC for 1,000
